I think those artist impressions are a little ambitious.
How's the family hill with no fence and those trees ?
That walkway is a bit confusing as well...you can just stand there to watch the footy...and those buildings are see through!

As an ex pat shire resident it sure is exciting to revisit every now and again. Ths last time I saw the rissole it was covered in scaffolding and now I am informed it is really quite something. So much so they have suspended taking new members (or so I am told) and northies is taking it up the arse.

the RSL is awesome. Probably the best spot in the shire for a beer and feed.
The footy club can be as good . If they utilise the view like the RSL it will be a close race.
The footy club's downfall is its location...however...it's shopping centre and it being an equally desirable location should see the locals in walking distance ( unit owners - not Capsis --he'll be dead by then ) really embrace it.
Once the sun goes down all those ocean facing joints in Cronulla lose their view.
The Footy club "should " have views of the city lights etc.
I know when I go to that joint in Eloura surf club I make sure I go early so I have something to look at.

Can someone explain "uncle joes" or whatever it is called at northies now.

The garishly painted end. I haven't been in there for 12 months. Is it the same licencee?

Same licencee but rubbish. Went in on NYE early. Only people in were a family playing table tennis. Reminded me of Tilt at Miranda. Walked straight through to the regular bar. Apparently it's better later on when more punters in. My advice don't go early. We left and went to the new Blind Bear. That's pretty good modelled on the old Speakeasy's from the States.

haha excellent point. I nkow people who holiday on Northern Gold Coast, but dine out on Southern Gold Coast. Rainbow SLSC, Greenmount, Burleigh etc for that very reason. From Broady Surfers at night, you see nothing. From the South, you see everything.

It's a different operator under the same licence. I get it and I like it but I am in the minority. I spoke to the owner and he said their target market is being savaged by the RSL and the blind bear and they are filthy. It seems that Robert Stanley Jones thought that his monopoly would never end and that people would go to northies for shit food, overpriced booze and dickhead bouncers no matter what happened.

Famous old saying....

You go around shitting in your own nest, then one day you will walk in it.

I was told he walked into the RSL and said
"We're f**ked"!

Novelty factor of the old northies re-opening is well and truly over. IMO developers farrkked up by making northies a shoe-box on one level. Had the potential to capitalise on the view and make it two stories with a nice beer garden. Rissole has now left it for dead...... Always wondered when it was going to make use of the second elevated bowling green. Northies looks very tacky at the moment in comparison and wherever the skirt goes...the punters will follow!

What is so good about the RSL club - what have they done to it? Was it a dive before?

Maybe the leagues club can take note of what works & what doesn't when renovating. Need to encourage more youngsters in.

Never understood why they did away with the 2nd level and deck when they redeveloped the site.

People like sitting on big decks, especially the ladies.
