Rogan's move to Spotify has really proven to me that no matter how good your show is the platform it is on really matters.

To me the JRE podcast is a visual show and can't be fully enjoyed in audio only, but I only ever use Spotify for audio and when I am driving, out exercising, at work or some other situation where I can only listen. If I'm watching something it's usually Youtube and even though both Youtube and Spotify can chromecast to my tv I'm too lazy to switch apps to Spotify and send JRE to the screen. There's plenty of content on Youtube that I could be forever switching channels so to speak without having to change to a different app.

As a result I only really watch JRE if there is someone specific on, it's not really something I'll randomly watch anymore. I wonder how many other people have had a similar experience.

Similar. I am more down to being tired of hearing from Joe (not really his fault just heard his opinions/stuff too often) so I only tune in if it is someone I like or is an expert in a topic I am interested in.

Yeah there are some shows where Joe is just way too blazed and seems unaware that he's cutting off his guests while rambling about nonsense, just like in the Mark Calaway one.

One of Joe's recent guests was Christopher Mellon and they talked about UFO shit.

This is such a dumb topic already because the videos coming out are just absolute horseshit that can be very easily explained. But at one point they were discussing Bob Lazar and it's pretty clear that Joe is extremely gullible and way too trusting of people. Bob's credentials and educational background have been called into question, as MIT has no record that Bob was ever there. So what happens? Bob tells Joe in private that he was really there on some sooper sekret projekt that was off the books and that's why MIT has no record of him, and then supposedly gives Joe a few details about this project but then tells him not to publicly disclose any info about it.

At this point you gotta wonder how dumb Joe really is. If Bob is not supposed to talk about it, well, he's now publicly telling everyone that Bob is talking to people about it.

And it never seems to occur to Joe that Bob is also already talking about a whole bunch of shit that, if true, he's not supposed to be talking about, so why would this be any different?

That's what always amuse me about UFO grifters... "Oh, I can't answer that question because even though it would completely prove beyond any doubt whatsoever that aliens are real it's actually classified."

^ Yeah Rogan himself is certainly never the interesting one in his conversations. So when he invites kooks and conmen on it's a massive swerve from me. Very overrated podcast but still I'm glad he's so successful to at least potentially expose people to new ideas.

Has Joe's influence waned completely with the move to Spotify? I never listened to him that much, his courting and promoting of the righty grifters went a little too far, but I'd often listen to ones with interesting guests.

But, aside from this thread popping up occasionally, I really have no awareness of his show any more.

He had Sebastian Junger (journalist) a few days ago, Dav Chappelle a few weeks ago, Brian Greene (physics guy) last month. He is still getting great guests every few weeks.

That will be one worth listening too, assuming Rogan lets Chappelle talk and doesn't constantly talk over him.

He has absolutely copped it over the last few days.

I like Joe Rogan. I'd probably listen to a podcast from him every 1-2 weeks. Im nowhere near close to agreeing with all of his views but I find him entertaining.

Im not agreeing with the pile on that has been started with Neil Young though.

Yup… I’m triple vaxxed(got my booster this arvo…) and generally support the mandates.

I did however cop a bit of heat in a work meeting yesterday when I mentioned to a workmate something UFC related which a woman in the group took offense to because I mentioned Rogan’s name…

I basically had to spell out to a group of them that I’m a f**king adult… and that I enjoy his podcasts… some guests more than others… and some guests I don’t even listen to.

i don’t however agree with everything he says or believes on a number of topics including COVID…

the f**king hysteria over him is ridiculous… the stupid thing is they don’t seem to realise that Spotify need him more than he needs Spotify…

The podcast will do huge numbers wherever it goes… if Spotify remove him he will go back to being on all platforms… infact he will probably do bigger numbers as I think he lost people when he went over to Spotify.

I think he needs to do a good run of fighters on his podcast…

He’s still the best most well rounded colour guy in the game IMO…

I like the combo of him and dc….

I think he certainly has his flaws… he tends to fixate on a single part of the fight which can often make it seem a bigger deal than it actually is…

but on the whole he’s actually been ahead of the game more than most.

I’m not a fan of Dom… he comes off abit weird…

Did we watch the same fight?? Joe pretty clearly had Volk winning that fight… infact at the start of the final round I remember Rogan saying Max was in desperado mode as he needed the KO to win.

At the end Joe said he had Volk winning as you have to score leg kicks…
