In many ways the NRL has turned the tables and leads the way with many initiatives (Covid. Magic Rd, Indigenous all stars, Vegas, night GFs), over AFL which used to be the reverse (state of origin, Anzac day matches, indigenous round)

How is "night GFs" a good thing?

15k sold already.

“Australia’s biggest sport unleashed in Vegas”
Having a smaller field is a bit of a worry, the games might not be open and attractive to watch.

Going to be very hard to score try's. Let's hope it's not a 5 hit ups and a kick type of game.

Not just that.

Take this year. When was the last Broncos day game?

Then they get a day game in the biggest game of the year in often the hottest day of the season.

We don't play enough day games to make the GF a day

In all seriousness, when you consider how many scorching hot days that have been on Grand Final day over the past 5-10 years, I doubt many players would love playing in the scorching heat that Accor becomes when its hot. Heck I feel for those playing in the state Championship and the NRLW Grand final as they play in the hottest parts of the day on GF day as it is.

Why were grand finals played during the day in the past?

Because the technology wasn't available to adequately illuminate grounds. Not because it fitted in with some dinosaur's bbq plans.

A night grand final is a much better spectacle both on and off the field.
It's still a day Grand Final for people watching in Perth :D

That is it, You could probably make an argument for Origin in Winter being better suited to day footy but not in October

I went to an NFL game earlier this year and the width of the field is noticeably smaller. Even pushing out to where the NFL benches are will result in a thinner field.

Length wise it isn't too much different especially with extending in to the endzone.
