Mate it's a team with a long and storied history in the QCup and before that the State League, its a huge RL area.

It's a shit decision, and a even shitter reason given
I think it's a bad decision too, but we really do not know why.
People here are taking guesses, I'll take one too:
The QRL have asked for extra funding to put more teams in their competition. The NRL have said no, or at least not yet. The QRL have put the team in anyway, and as their funding from the NRL only allocates for so many teams, not the extra one, Toowoomba feel slighted, and rightly so.
But is it the NRL or QRL's issue?
Just not really clear.

So you don't know why this is happening.
Your "sense" tells you that the NRL are looking for a fight.
What fight are they looking for pre-tell?
Then you're not sure, but maybe its just Vlandys looking to antagonise someone?

I would hate to think that just looking for a fight is a justified reason.

They want a National Reserve Grade comp.

Or what did Shane Richardson call them North and South Platinum League?

They want it stream lined, Toowoomba in the old days was Broncs feeder side. Something like that now and this debate wouldn't be happening

You'd be fine if say

Orange
Bathurst
Coffs Harbour

and say Wagga

All put teams in NSW Cup but wanted them to be funded by ARLC?

As opposed to those areas being funded to run their local competitions?
I've heard arguments numerous times that NSW cup, and NSW regional rugby league, would be better with some regional sides in it like Qlnd cup has?

These seems to be what old mates are saying.

If you've got no NRL links, then tough shit.

It's kicking ourselves in the dick.

By that logic PNG Hunters aren’t in the best interest of the game.

Does the Clydesdales’ funding come instead of funding for the local comps though? I doubt it.

I would be fine with NSW Cup teams in those regions, in fact I think it’d be an improvement instead of just having all the teams in based Newcastle to Wollongong.

Which the NRL give them to run the Pathways.

A team in the country with no link to any NRL side, isn't for the pathways.

Lol what?

If you go to the pathways section of news on nrl.com, the latest news article is about Solomon Islands.

What NRL side is the Solomon Islands linked to?

Clydesdale's funding doesn't but funding a QCup team doesn't improve streamlining the pathways though

There is nothing stopping those teams coming in, Like with Auckland though they need to funding their own travel

Seems pretty clear to me , QRL decided to admit them, NRl dont like they werent the ones making the decision, they are refusing to give QRl extra funding to pay for it.
Abdos response is poorly worded but nothing I wouldnt expect from nrlhq under this regime.

Funding a semi professional team is not grassroots

Multiple people have said that the QRL should just fund it and take money from somewhere else in their budget. Guess where that money is going to come from? Grassroots programs.
