I think it's time for the NRL to be completely divorced from ARLC.

With a separate board, chairman etc.

The NRL should focus purely on the top level only, and the rest looked after by an independent body.

I've got no problem with 'Western' having a team, and until there is more info don't understand why the ARLC have declined to fund it.

But relating this to the Las Vegas venture is drawing a long bow.

No the QRL have said they will fund them but they are going to have pull $350k a year from other development areas to do so, or they will close down again and leave that region without a top pathway club. I guess the question is should the NRL be funding growth of the hostplus cup? Abdo clearly doesnt think so, too busy with Vegas I guess?

It was a bit silly to admit them without getting the funding agreed, Ikin naivety maybe? I guess he stupidly thought the $600mil a year NRL wouldnt have an issue funding $350k grassroots growth in Queensland.
He should have noticed the $40mill missing out of that pot as a warning sign maybe?

The QRL fund the Hostplus cup clubs, from funding from the NRL. The issue seems to be the QRL were expecting the NRl to increase that funding to cover the $350k extra outlay, and they have refused, and in fact gone full on into bat with telling Toowoomba that their participations 'isnt in the best interests of the game'. Either thats a very poorly worded response from Abdo or he needs to clarify why they think that.
