I tried watching the nfl, but the stoppages killed it for me

Once you get into it you get used to it and the techincal almost chess like side of the game is really enjoyable once you understand it enough. Physically its just as tough but in a very different way. I actually got more injuries playing AF than I did RL.

yeh thats the challenge. AF is a very specialised game and kids grow up playing it in one position that has very specific skills and traits. RL players are much more rounded being able to pass, tackle, run and all for 80mins.

You could probably pick up some talented athletic kids at 16 from high school football and spend 5-10 years teaching them to play RL, but then youd question why would you when theres better prospects with less development need in Europe and NZ/PI.

Should have been in my club, we often didnt have enough players so played offence, defence and special teams lol

Because if a handful of these teenage Yanks make it "pro" over here, you potentially increase our interest in the biggest market in the world ??

If the NRL does decide it wants to take more content to the US, it could do a lot worse than taking something like Tonga v Samoa to Salt Lake City.
