Pretty simple, Vlandys has convinced the rest of the commission that’s it’s worth spending millions of $’s in the hope that it will eventually return more than is spent.
He must have some pretty convincing numbers that it's worth the money .

Either way," millions"is chump change for the NRL.

So no revenue from the event
You asked about costs. Of course it will generate “some” revenue but unles there’s a massive uptake of tickets and sell out of boxes then It’s hardly likely to cover the massive costs. Imagine how much that great stadium must be costing to hire! Just work out how much it will cost to fly and accomodate 4 clubs plus nrl officials and hangers on. Probably close to 200 people. I’m pretty sure they won’t be flying economy lol

Your propensity to make up bs is astounding

the event will run at a profit

it won’ cost the nrl a cent

it will be a future profit source

They fly economy in Australia.

I've been on the same flight as NRL teams on half a dozen occasions and they've all been in economy.

How? Unless it sells 50k tickets and fills the corporate boxes and picks up some decent sponsors for the whole event it doesn’t have a chance.
And that’s ok, they won’t be expecting it to. they are seeing it as an investment to try and generate revenue from gambling and tv longer term, but you’d be pretty stupid to think as a stand alone event it will even close close to covering costs.

If they sold out the stadium the revenue would be close to ten million. Dollars lmao

they’ve already sold 15k with very little marketing

sadly for you they will make money from this

Have read just 1 page of this thread and from what I read it’s totally missing the point of this initiative.

It isn’t about the game, the teams, the sponsors or if it can make a profit. It’s about gambling.

Exposing the NRL to 360 million Americans who love to bet on a sport that slots in nicely to the USA time slots. Even a small piece of the American pie is Massive.

They reckon the corporate stuff at the stadium is out of this world, not to mention the stadium itself.
i know its the US and everything is $$$. but ive been to NFL and baseball at the 2 WORST stadiums in the country, and it from start to finish absolutely shits on anything ive been to in australia.
