Would like to see continued movement on the lower tier. V'Landy's article from a few days saying 35k sold, is a very good sign for 50k+. Just need to get similar sales as last year in the next month to get to 50k. 60k definitely possible, if the better marketing this year (said in the article), is true.

Would love to see this event sold out. However my concern is that because of the 4 game schedule the stadium will never look full even if sold out.

Well, seeing that his team gets all the calls from the refs, he's already the nrl version of Tom Brady. So much easier to win when your team gets all the 50-50 calls.

With regards to Trump, I am in a neutral position. He has just commenced his second term and unlikely he would be in Vegas, just five or six weeks in from inauguration Maybe PVL or anyone connected to the game could go on Joe Rogan instead.

If Trump does well in his second term with certain issues and improves his popularity, not just in America, but around the world in the next 1-2 years, then why not?

On the flip side, if Trump fails to move the needle, and his popularity dives, then the NRL should steer clear of him.
There's an 'Indo Pacific Leaders Forum' in Vegas on Friday 28th of Feb (day before the game). Assume it's been set up to align with the NRL in Vegas and makes sense with the PNG expansion and the Pacific Strategy involving NRL. Not completely out of the question for the US to send someone to attend, could be Trump...

The fact that they invited Biden last year, kind of takes away any politics out of it. It's the head of state of one of, if not our closest Ally. They would have invited whomever won the election last year.

You leverage this and the UFC partnership to get a spot on the Joe Rogan Experience. Then you're cooking with gas, marketing directly to a demographic that would be highly perceptive to the game for 1-2 hours. You could get into the specifics of the rules and use the fact that it's loosely a combination of NFL and UFC (the wrestling - UFC fighters coaching NRL teams) Add the fact that 90% of our UFC fighters come from Rugby League, they mention this all of the time for Volkanovski. May just be them watching on TV this year. But helps in future years to get the attendance ratio growing more USA based.

Yes I saw this the other day myself and was impressed by the timing, it certainly adds an interesting angle to the proceedings and gives it the perception of a bit of clout. Most likely Rubio would attend.
Worth noting that Wong was invited to the inauguration whereas the leaders of England and France weren`t, that`s a statement of the regard and importance of Oz`s standing in the US even with the new president coming in and much uncertainty about who and who won`t be in favour.
Wong along with the other AUKUS `s representatives also were invited to a meeting with Rubio, his first meeting with foreign official`s since taking the job. Too much to ask she would invite him along to watch a game of League though. LOL.

Trump Dopes Syndrome....for sure
The types that believe in deep state are people who feel like they`ve been left behind economically speaking, either that or they are people who are smart enough to try to appeal (and take advantage of) the aforementioned by peddling this nonsense and pandering to their sense of grievance. Poor silly suckers, do they really think that the heads of all these tech companies Trump is sucking up to really have their best interests at heart.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

My point was athletes and divisive political "figures"..do a bit of thinking. I can't use any simpler words to explain it

*Here's just a few ...you a fan of Colin Kaeppernick? LeBron James? Megan Rapinoe? if not you can bet your bottom beer that a good number of our current NRL and NRLW players sure are. I wouldn't be poking this bear if I was the NRL
I’m not a fan of any of them and in fact I can’t stand them but i don’t let that cloud or affect my view on basketball, American football or women’s football as all 3 sports are sh#te regardless of their political beliefs.

Given that Vegas is less than a month away, I would say its going to be pretty hard to get on JRE if not already booked.

And I just can't see the appeal an obscure sport (to the Yanks) would have on a long form podcast. The conversation is probably about 10 to 15mins tops.

Not if they use the angle of the pacific and China, the PNG team, etc That could make for a fascinating podcast.

The story of how an obscure sport from Australia, that's a combination of NFL and UFC, is used to thwart China's efforts in gaining ground in the pacific region.

You never know, could already have been organised. Maybe around the same time as the Pacific Forum. V'Landys did mention better marketing this time. This would definitely fit in well with it. I'm not saying its happening, but imagine there has been a lot going on behind the scenes and we are just finding out about certain aspects.

Would depend who you had on. A perfect person to go on, would have been Russell Crowe, but he was on it 5 months ago. Having Volk, Tuivasa and Whittaker going on and spending an hour talking about it, along with UFC chat, would also be good. You wouldn't have V'Landys or any current players by themselves. You could get Cleary to go on for 20 mins to give inside takes within the sport, along with say Tuivasa. Can also talk about them owning a brewery together.

This is going the same way as the gambling deal that we were guaranteed to get big money for last year all because Vlandys knows the industry. The actual industry experts said it was going to be difficult if not impossible as there was no reason for them to hand over money, and guess what, there was no deal.

Oh and also how a completely different tv channel was going to give free advertising to fox and the NRL during the super bowl (something they sell for millions) because it was being played at the same location.

This year's version is Joe Rogan and Donald Trump are going to give free advertising for no reason.

Come on we all love a bit of ridiculous farcical 'what ifs'
The vegas junket is built on it:
1% of tv , free national coverage, major betting deals American players being discovered in a 'combine'. This year we've just introduced the orange buffoon lol

Apologies to any Papuans but no one gives a f**k about PNG in the US. Especially this insular government and its supporters.
PNG getting a team in a competition the average American has never heard of isn't going to raise a blip on any podcast let alone Rogans.

I may have disqualified myself from the bestest rugby league fan eva!! trophy, so be it.

True but the fact that the country of PNG and the sport/competition of RL&NRL are being used as counterweights to the rise and expansion of Chinese influence in the pacific region could .

Just hire a heap of development officers and get the youth programs going. I've seen heaps of videos of North Americans reacting to Rugby League on youtube and other platforms, there is a market there for it. Be in for the long haul or don't bother.

It’s not about PNG but the threat of china and what governments are doing is a hot topic. Think there’s a very slim chance of it happening but I could see that angle being used as a hook.
