As I said in an earlier post.

Depth isn't the problem for Parra next year they have Marsh, Morris, Perenara, Smith and Green all capable of filling the halfback role.

The problem is that Marsh is returning from a serious injury so it make take a couple of months before he is match fit enough to play 80 mins while Perenara, Green and Smith all have yet to play 1st grade so they'll need time to adapt to the increased speed of 1st grade.

Parramatta simply need a stop gap measure until either one of the young guys (deoending on form) gets settled in the top grade or Marsh returns to full fitness.

The Eels have two options for this

1) Sign Leuluai
2) Play Morris at halfback but that leaves 5/8 open which could mean Wagon again playing in #6.

i guess the club should have thought about depth before releasing Dykes and Witt. I rate both these players higher than Leuleui. Leuleui lacks involvement and when he does get involved his touches arn't quality.

Dykes did not want to be here, I mean the dickhead was taping Sharks games while playing for us. Witt- he will be playing at 5/8 for the Scum and not at halfback which says alot. And the same goes for leulaui he is not what Parra need at the moment. What Parra need is some direction similar to what Taylor did in 01. Taylor was old but he took us to the GF on his old Legs. Just imagine someone with Taylors skills but younger, thats what we need.

Dykes: Even if he didn't want to be here, he still made line breaks and try assists. Leuleui had no line breaks or try assists for the 2004 season.

Witt: He is a more skillful version of Leuleui, the problem with both of them is they don't get involved enough.

Parramatta do need a leader in the halfback position, hopefully we can Stick with Smith in the halfback role and let Green and Peneara battle it out for the 5/8 position.

What about Morris??

Tug of war tightens over Leuluai
14 November 2004
By GREG PRICHARD

The Thomas Leuluai saga has taken another twist.

A fortnight after the young Kiwis halfback and unwanted Warrior said he was about to join Parramatta, the New Zealand Warriors are claiming they never gave him the green light to discuss his future with other NRL clubs.

The messy matter is likely to come to a head this week, with Parramatta officials adamant they had permission to talk to Leuluai.

Leuluai is in England with the Kiwis for the Tri Nations tournament.

Two weeks ago Leuluai told the Sunday Star-Times: "All along, my first preference was to go to Parramatta and my manager says things have changed in the last 24, 48 hours. It looks as though the Warriors are going to release me, so I'm very happy."

But Watson said yesterday the Warriors had only ever been prepared to release Leuluai to an English club.

"'I'm going to wait for Thomas to come home from the tour and talk to him then," Watson said.

AdvertisementAdvertisement"We had a meeting with him and his father at the end of last season and the said he wasn't getting much penetration into first grade and that with Nathan Fien joining the club it might get even more difficult for him.

"I saw some merit in that argument and I gave him permission to look in England. How any other NRL club became involved I don't know. We haven't given him permission to talk to any other NRL clubs."

Parramatta general manager Greg Mitchell said the Eels had been up front with the Warriors all along and had not done anything wrong.

"We have a completely different of view of proceedings to what the Warriors are saying," Mitchell said.

"We've done everything through the front door.

"We got all of the approvals to talk to Thomas. Warriors general manager Spiro Tsiros gave us permission over the phone, with witnesses, and again via email.

"Our understanding is that if we came to a deal with Thomas we just had to negotiate a release fee with the Warriors for the final year of his contract."

The two clubs will try to resolve the matter this week.

****************************************************

Its a complete shambles with one club saying one thing and the other club completely different. It seems to me that the Warriors don't know what they are doing. There CEO is adamant that he is going to be released to an ESL team but a lower ranked manager has been dealing with Parra. Somebody had to give him permission to visit Parra surely. I think Parra should bail out quickly and not get involved in this mess. Espeically when the NZ CEO says we will wait for Thomas to come back from after the TRI-SERIES..... way way too long.

Well with the Kiwis not in the final they will be home next Monday or Tuesday.

It depends on how much they want Leuluai but I really can't see them continuing trying to get him if this drags on too much longer

I reckon he will be officially with us by the end of this week.

you said that last week! champ. ;-)

Well this week he has Smith backing him up.

The way he answered the Q in the interview today it sounded like Leuluai is signed but he just can't officially say it yet.

Thats what I reckon. I hope he does though.IMO Marsh wont be capable of playing 80 mins after being out of the game for 2 years.
