Sorry MQ...as you know I've been sick the past week so haven't been much help but good to see some of my amigos here giving you some tips....I found the most importnat thing in my first season was even though I lost every match and supporters sponsors were not to pleased.....I made sure I had money in the bank...got a few home friendlies, built up my stadium size without going broke....got 5 spokespersons straight away and made sure I had money coming into the bank account....first season was rough but I was able to slurge on a couple of good players on the transfer market the 2nd season and suddenly things turned around...I finished 4th my 2nd season and haven't finished out of the top 3 teams the past 4 seasons....I just need to take that next step up now!

Mayor Quimby, is your team Avalon Avengers? If so, the team you're buying the keeper from is one of the teams in my league. He's not too bad (although nothing could keep that team from being smashed every week).

Yeah Mad Duck...that's MQ's team...Iprobably wouldn't have payed that much for that Keeper but MQ didn't have a keeper to start with so anything is better than that!

Yeah, normally you can pick up an inadequate keeper for 10-20 thousand. I would've just done that and then used the remainder to improve the stadium. Oh well, too late for MQ (unless somebody else comes in and ups the bid on the keeper).

Well, I put that wing back on the transfer list twice, and nobody paid the $1.2m that I was asking for him. Oh well, their loss. In a way I'm glad, as I've decided to keep him for 3 or 4 more seasons and continue training him. By that time his defence should go up to outstanding or even brilliant, and then I should be able to get some serious money for him.

Only 4 days to go till my stadium hits 35,000. I'm starting to get up into the rhelms of the big stadiums in division 5. By complesion of this upgrade, my stadium will be the 37th biggest in division 5. Quite happy with that actually.

In regards to Mayor Quimby and his(?) money problems, one trap that many people fall into is buying players for more than their worth...players with no secondaries and older players because they 'seem' cheaper...even though they pass their use by date when they hit 30 years old.

There are much more important issues to solve first, like the stadium and the coach and the youth squad. Then you should be looking at who is your youngest player with potential and training in that area. It is imperative that you pump the max into the youth squad every week (IMO) to make sure you maximise your chances of picking up a quality young player most weeks. It won't happen every week, but when that good young player does come along, he costs you only the $4000 to promote him. Going to the transfer market is very expensive and you have to pay over their value to get quality players.

Stick to the simple plan, and success will come eventually.

If you can get him up that high, that will set you up for the rest of your hattrick life!

You should be able to get a young inadequate keeper for between 10 and 20k. That's what I was selling them for while I was bringing them through my youth team, before I got the solid keeper I was looking for. For a division 5 team just starting off, an inadequate will do fine until you either get the money to buy a better one or get your youth team improved to the point you can pull a good youngster.

Does everyone understand what a team leader or "clown" is.

They help give your team confidence and guide your young players. They basically help your team perform better and win more games.

The best "clowns" are popular team members and have solid leadership. Look for one of these on the transfer market. They help your cause greatly. They are somewhat hard to find but totally worth whatever you pay for them. And they do not have to play games. So their abilities can be irrelivent if you want to drag a "Clown" along for the ride in your team. Most newbie teams forget about clowns and they struggle more because of it.

What do you search for in the transfer list to find them?

There is no real shortcut to search for them. You have to put in the hard yards, searching 100's of players looking for a clown. But the benefits are worth the hard work you put in.

Putting it into perspective last night i searched 250 players in Oceania and did not find one clown. They are hard to find. Thats the idea of hattrick, those that work on their team get the benefits.

what is the minimum that a "clown" players leadership should be??? e.g. solid, world class?

Does it say in his bio that he is a popular guy? If so, then yes, he is a clown.

The highest clown you can get is solid.

Some say that you can have a passable clown but i disagree, it kind of just makes the whole thing pointless because his leadership is the key factor. The reason they are clowns is the solid leadership coupled with the fact that they are popular. If someone offers you a pseudo clown, ignore the offer as psuedo clowns are a falacy. Its just a rumour created to sell more players with no skills, just good leadership!

An example of a pseudo clown would be a sympathetic guy with solid leadership.

OR

A pleasent guy with soild leadership

etc etc
