Congrats NW Rabbit. Tell us when you get your first excellent youth pull.

I'm still working with a solid youth system, but that's good enough for me at the moment.

I remember I was over the moon when i pulled my first solid youth pull and he went straight into my first string defence. Since then I have pulled a solid striker as well, some passables and plenty of inadequete's. Now that I have a excellent youth system, I think I'll get a useful player around 50% of the time as opposed to about 40% of the time. I'm still at the stage where any good youth pulls go into the team, and the ex-player gets sold or gets the sack. I look forward to the day when a solid youth pull goes straight onto the tranfer market without even a second thought. I reckon you know you have made it in hattrick when you get to that stage. I think I am about one season away from that. So that means it takes 4 seasons to have a truly balenced squad that can make good money most weeks.

Not happy.

Spinechillers team just overbid on my clown and just cost me $8000 more. I put these clowns up in good faith and while its not illegal for him to bid on the player, it is slightly underhanded of him.

If this thread is to work effectively, we have to help each other, not make things harder.

Mixed emotions at the moment.

Chile, if you can afford it put the $40 000 into them, it pays off in the long run.

Since my youth team went solid about 5 weeks ago, I've already got a solid goalkeeper and a midfielder with solid play-making (unfortunately his passing is wretched). So I hope I can continue that success rate.

I had a good go at Hattrick a while back. But I really have no respect for the game engine. I realised that when I started the game I was going to get smashed, and pretty frequently, which I can handle. But some of the numbers were just nonsensical - I think in my first match, I drew 0-0, and the opposing team had something like 93% possession.

I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. In later matches, the possession was similar - I think in one game it was in the region of 97%, and I lost 6-0, which is fine - but the game reported that my defenders all had "solid" performances. How can they have played a "solid" game when they didn't even touch the ball for the entire match and let in several goals?

Also one thing that put me right off is that ALL the best teams used 3-5-2. What's the point if you can only use one formation?

I've never seen possession for one team go over 70%. :?

As for the 3-5-2 formation, they are starting to put in new tactics to help other formations catch up. For instance, I play 5-4-1 to train all my young defenders. While that has caused me to drop points this season, next season they are going to allow you to have a counter-attack option which will hopefully make that formation more workable.

Heheh!! I think my time has come to pass on the baton! ;-) You have firmly established yourself as the League Unlimited hattrick guru here I think!! Plenty of good, friendly advice above, and man - you're absolutely going apesh#t in your division!!! Undefeated, with a goal diff of +27 after 8 games - doesn't get too much better than that!!

Not 2 mention - Also the current holders of the most prestigious of hat trick's holy grails - The RLeague.com Cup!! ;-)

Division IV ahoy!!...And did u see some of the latest HT developments - crowd & sponsor income will be increasing from next season, which will be bloody good!!

And whaddya think of these new 'tactics' selections??...Cracking idea I think, adds so much more complexity to the way u think about building your squad, and who u play, where & why - HT was crying out for a tweak like that!!...It IS gonna take some getting used to though!!...Today I tried to rely on memory from what I read the other week about all of this - and picked a 'counter-attacking' tactic in tonight's friendly, and got smashed 5-0!!!...going back to re-read the pros & cons of the new tactics, it turns out I remembered wrong and picked COMPLETELY the wrong formation for the counter-attack tactic to work for me!!

D'oh!!

It's about time you showed up Dog-E....we've all been missing you, isn't it nice to know you're loved :p
I've been doing some big time recruiting for hattrick on the Manly forum (mightyeagles.com) and we have 6 of us signed up and playing hattrick now with the help of Northwest over there on occasions...so if you ever want to pop in over there Dog-E in the general section of our forum and help some novices out in the fine art of hattrick, you'd be more than welcome even though you are an evil Doggies fan ;-)

Welcome home Dog-E. You've been missed.

The new tactics will be great I reckon, especially for people who play something other than 3-5-2. It's also bought a new aspect into the transfer market. Rather than just buying young inadequate defenders (or passable when I can afford it soon), I'm also trying to get ones who can pass fairly well so I can utilise the counter-attack tactic.

If your playing it at your home ground, its probably the smartest thing you've ever done in hattrick so far. The $$$$$$ will be rolling in and its only a friendly!

Fellow League Unlimited posters and hattrick players

I am going to start up a League Unlimited/Mighty Eagles Friendly Cup for next season. It will (hopefully) have 8 teams (may vary).

If you would like to enter the inaugural League Unlimited/Mighty Eagles Friendly Cup (gotta think of a better name) then please leave ALL your team details and hattrick username below in this thread. Those that are commited to friendly cups for this season, you can still be in the LU/ME Cup as its starting next season (about 2 months away in real time).

Hills Havoc will be in it!!!! If noone joins, we win by default!

Cheers.
