holy moly...

so atm the my plans to upgrade to 15,000 are going to cost me about $440,000. So you're saying this will cost me closer to $900,000, cause thats rather crazy imo. My fan club is growing at a real good rate. At the start of the season it was around the 370 mark and has since risen to 450. I was going to upgrade after my next home game to 15,000, but should I save up some more with the idea of upgrading to 20,000????

I don't really see the sense in at all. The people who are most going to be hurt are the new managers, us established ones can more easily absorb the price hike (although it'll still be annoying). And considering everything else the HT-Gods have been doing lately has been helping out the newcomers, this really confuses me.

It was also strange how they announced it. It was just a small paragraph down the bottom of a much larger announcement that was released at the beginning of the season. I for one missed it completely and it wasn't until I later read people going on about it at the Hattrick Conferences that I realised.

Whether you should take it up to 20k as opposed to 15k is a tough question. Personally, I would probably say it would be worth it in the long-term.

I found some good pages for what you should do when starting a new team. I think I will follow these guidelines just so I get my team off to it's best possible start.

http://hattrickgameday.tripod.com/hattrick/id51.html

And their is heaps of software available to download to help work out whats what with the game. A free one I found is :

http://www.hattrickforever.com/

And after all this investigation I still am waiting for a team to be allocated to me, it can't come quick enough now as I am pumped.

I haven't seen that guide before, but it's from Sirfire who is one of the top players in Oceania and it seems like a good guide. It's quite old though, and point #6 (about the coaches) is out-of-date. It used to be completely random what kind of coach you got when you fired your old one, whereas now you buy the replacement from a list. I believe you'll start with a weak coach, so one of the first things you should probably do is get a passable coach with poor leadership. That'll cost about $150 000, and he'll do you until you get the money together to get a solid coach with better leadership. The coaching level is more important that the leadership, especially when you first start, as it determines how fast your trainees take to train.

You seem to be doing the right thing and reading a lot the rules and figuring out what to do when you start. That will give you a major advantage over 90% of other new managers, so as long as you're put into a Div VI league you should soon be very competitive. Another site that I recomend is the Platypus Guide at http://www.hottrick.org/ .

Yeah, I got that bookmarked as well. I figure I way as well try and get off to the best possible start. Even if I don't get out of division VI at my first try, I should have everything in place to make sure I win the division the season after.

Anyway, by the looks of it I am going to inhert a team towards the end of the season, so all I can do is try and prepare my club for the next one.

hmmm, with regards to the lu cup. i contacted whataload of bulldog's' manager about our up coming friendly in the lu cup. he said he was on his honeymoon at, but he had also challenged me. however...he hasn't. so i challenged him, but so far with no response. if it gets to tuesday, and he hasn't accepted is it a crime to look elsewhere for friendlies cause i don't wanna sacrifice any training...?

If you send the challenge and it isn't accepted by Tuesday, you certainly can arrange another friendly and you will then be awarded a 5-0 win. Just keep in mind that Ernesto of Ernesto's Strikeforce only logs in on Tuesdays normally.

Dogs of War, there are plenty of teams in Oceania without a manager at the moment thanks to us expanding to six divisions last season. So you should get a team within a few days.

I'm playing Whataload of Bulldogs btw. And he accepted today, so it's all good.

What's more is my side enjoyed a stunning 7-0 in the top of the table clash. I'm 5 points clear at the top and at this stage cruising towards a return to division 5.

Bamboozled no longer has an account here but he has confirmed to me that he is interested in joining the LU cup. He can sign up for Cup manager this afternoon just so you all know.

Yep, there is still a spot open for you. Mambo is in charge of organising the Cup Manager site, but I haven't seen him around for the last few weeks. So don't worry that you aren't included in the site, just act as if you are Madtown until it's fixed up.

Round 8
Piran Suns FC vs Ernesto's Strikeforce
Heathcote Harriers vs Sri Lanka Chuckerspinmen
Whenuapai United vs Whataloada Bulldogs FC
Hills Havoc vs Central Coast Falcons
Avalon_Avengers vs Arsenal A.C.

Whenupai and Whataloada's game is the only one that has been booked I believe. It's probably too late to organize the others now, so we'll see how it works out and whether the others get played next week or we just all go onto the next round.

Hills again didn't accept my challange so I've accepted one from elsewhere.

Should I bother challanging him next week or should I just move on to my next LU Cup round?

Whenuapai are on the board after comfortably seeing off Whataload of Bulldogs 3-1, but we remain bottom although I doubt we'll finish in that position...

What's happening next btw???

I'm currently playing a friendly against some team in France and the manager is using a 6-2-2 formation! Madness, I know. I guess he is probably trying to get as many defender training positions as he can but won't this cause him to lose training positions?

Has anyone used this sort of tactic before?
