my stadium holds $20,000. i've sold it out once. after looking at my division for next season, chances are i'll be selling it out again and then some. i haven't got the money at the moment though so 20,000 it will stay at until the time comes hopefully towards the end of next season to upgrade to 30,000 maybe 40,000

I notice that the cost of stadium upgrading will be doubled on the 31st January. Do you guys reckon I should make the jump from 50,000 seats to 60,000. MY worry is that I've only sold out 50,000 twice but my business sense says upgrade now while its cheap. Decisions, decisions....

If you think you need it, you should. I noticed that the other day too. I'm selling a player which goes off in an hour or so and I'm going to up my stadium maybe 6-7,000..... if I have to go in debt I will.
Yeah I've added to the size of my stadium this week even though I had a poor season...haven't gone crazy but have tried to get in before the prices go up!

Just in case you haven't heard, not only is the price to increase your stadium going to double next season, it's going to double again for the following season. Stupid, stupid decision IMO, but we're going to have to live with it. It won't affect me much as I've already taken my stadium up to 70k, but it's going to make it that much harder for newer teams to catch the established ones.

Other changes are that new teams will start with only 100 supporters, but at least the new smarter fans will see them gain supporters very very fast. This change is somewhat understandable, as new teams in the really big countries would start with 500 and then lose supporters even if they won every match. The arena size for new teams is also increased to 12k.

Changed my team name to the West Dubbo Firebugs upon heading down to Div 6, going to up my stadium too.
hehe, I saw your new team name the other day and wondered 'what the?'. Thought you must have lost your team or something, but then realised you'd just changed the name.

By the way, you'll be playing against my best young trainees in our friendly on Wednesday, including Pedro (my U-20 player) and two others who are an outside chances of making the Sverige U-20 side (depending on whether their new manager wants to use an offensive wingback). If you injure them I will hunt you down and kill you myself. :p

I upped my stadium from 9k to 15k last night.... that should do me a little. I'm tempted to up it one more time when it's all finished.

Damn you Mad Dogg!!!! Im still struggling for a challenge now that youve pulled out. I had about 7 at one stage from all corners of the globe but theyve all gone now, all of them!!!!! But on a positive note, i finally got myself out of debt, and my young gun 'Vic Johnson' made the jump from Solid to Excellent this morning, along with 'Abe Seal' who went from Passable to Solid, hell be on the market in a few hours if anyone is interested in an 18 year old solid Striker with Solid stamina and weak passing, bidding starts at 150K

Heh, sorry RHCP. I just challenged a bunch of people from here to see who would accept first. The winner goes to... *drumroll* ...thewizard1o1. :D

The latest news on the Hattrick site is huge for me:

Wing-back attacks
An adjustment to the match engine is now being made (effective Tuesday morning, after the qualification matches): The contribution to wing attack from the winger skill of wing-backs played "normal" (especially) and "offensive" increases.

There was quite a large thread on the Hattrick conference about this, and just about everyone agreed that the wing skill of the wingbacks wasn't important enough. In particular I was pushing for the winger contribution of the wingback played normal to improve, and that's what they've done.

So hopefully now it's going to be worth it to get wingbacks with some wing skill and play them normally. Previously the attack boost was just so low that it was better just to play them defensively.

hmmmm. I considering upgrading to adding another 5,000 seats to my 20,000. It'll cost around 270,000. It will mean debt, but it's probably worth it in the long run. Should I do it. It will mean putting back buying that solid coach and solid keeper. But they can wait I guess

i've been placed in a league where a few of the teams have better midfields then my own. hopefully after a week or two of stamina training that could improve a bit. cause i think most of my midders have crap stamina at current.
anyways i had hoped to get into a bot league like nibbs and a few others have been before. but it wasnt to be. vi.62 is where i call home, and will do for a while now i dare say!

A quick question for you experts here.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Defensive training and Defensive Positioning training. In the HT Rules it just says that it affects defenders and midfielders and I currently train defenders so whats the best training for this?

Thanks

Defensive Positioning is a brand new training system. It trains both your defenders and midfielders in defence, but at roughly half the speed as what normal defence training trains your defenders. Personally I don't think it's worth it, as defence training is already the slowest in the game at 7.5 weeks for a 17yo. You'd need to have young midfielders to make the most of it (and youngsters mean more expensive), and then your players would generally go up only one level every season.

Through Passes is the other new training system. Once again it trains the defenders and midfielders, this time in passing. It's basically the same as Short Passes (which trains forwards and midfielders), except slightly slower since you can train more players.

Take a look around at the other teams in your league, and decide if you are going to win many games. If not, I doubt you will sell out your stadium anyway, so you're probably better off getting the coach for now. He'll let you train your players faster, so you'll be able to sell one or two sometime next season and make your stadium upgrade then (before they double for the second time). If you think you can win a fair few games, then the stadium upgrade might be the way to go.

Out & out Defensive training is the best for your long-term training plans - Defensive training trains ONLY your defenders in defending...

All the new Defensive positioning type does is trains defenders AND midfielders in defending...but as in effect, it trains twice as many players - it is only half as effective to balance out...

in other words - if it takes say 6 weeks to normally go up a level with Defending training- you can either train 10 defenders a week using the pure defending training (playing 5-3-2 in friendly + league game) who will go up in 6 weeks...OR - using this new defensie positioning training - you can train 10 defenders & 8 midfielders a week (Playing 5-4-1) but they will only level up once every TWELVE weeks...

Hope that makes sense! ;-)
