I'm up against a good Div IV team in the next round. If he puts out the same team as in the last round of the cup I should win comfortably, but if he plays his first team it's going to get quite nasty. And unfortunately he showed last season that he would play his first team once the hard rounds of the cup gets underway. My best hope is that he under-estimates me.

I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to play it. 4-4-2 with three inner mids (possibly with MOTS) to try to match him in the midfield? 4-4-2 with two inner mids and two offensive wingers, probably with CA? 5-3-2 or 5-4-1, both with only two inner mids and CA? In a way these are the types of games that really make Hattrick exciting; playing a slightly superior team and trying to beat him tactically.

Can anyone help me defeat this hardcore Div2 side with an insane midfield but a poor backline? He was using a half star keeper and it wasn't a sub either
Are you religious? If so, praying would be a good start. ;-)

Unfortunately for you, chances are he won't use that half a star keeper. That's the only game he's used him, he has another keeper that is capable of getting 10.5* when he's in good form.

If you're lucky he might take you easy and put out the same team as he did in this cup match. Otherwise, you quite frankly have no chance in hell. His midfield is hugely bigger than yours, his defence (if he does use the good keeper) is great, and his attack, while the weakest part of his team, is still good enough to score a few goals if he gets the chances. The only weakness I can see on his team is that he always focuses his attacks down one side. If you can guess which side he will attack against you (I'm guessing right as he seems to alternate between the two sides - right, left, right, left, etc) and then concentrate your defence on that area you just might be able to hold him.

Just a note about your team (and this goes for everyone), it's almost useless to play your wingers 'normal'. It takes away some of their contribution to the attack, while adding a tiny amount of their defending skill to the defence. Unless they have a very large defending skill, the amount of attack you lose is larger than the amount of defence you gain. Wingers should generally always be played offensive or towards middle (contributes a bit more of their playmaking to the midfield, but loses most of the attack on that side).

For those of you who want to take part in the LU Cup again this season, just put your name down in the sticky thread.

Yes I believe in god, so much so that I'm planning to pull him into my side on Sunday from my Youth Pull. He alone will save me!

How do I concentrate my defence? I usually just set my line up and use my strat and let it rip.

When you talk about wingers, is that all wingers, wing backs or the midfield wingers?

You can improve your defence on one side by using the better wingback on that side, plus using your central defender on that side. The central defender does contribute a small amount to the side he's on, which is a good thing to know when you play a team which normally only attacks down one side (like your opponent does).

For instance, if you think that the other team will put his good attack down his right, you want to defend strongest on your left to block it. Use your best wingback on your left, and make sure your central defender is on that side also. If any of your midfielders have defending, it might be a good idea to also play him on that side and with the defensive order.

Something like this (just an example):

---------------------------------------Goalkeeper----------------------------------

---Wingback-----------Extra IM-----------Central defender--------Wingback---

Offensive winger-----Inner mid----------Defensive IM--------Offensive winger--

------------------------Forward-------------Forward--------------------------------

When you talk about wingers, is that all wingers, wing backs or the midfield wingers?
Just the midfield wingers. Wingbacks should generally be played defensively or normally (when they use a bit less defence but quite a bit more winger). If they don't have much wing skill then use them defensively.

do you reckon theres a best day for pulling a player from the youth squad?
my squad jumped up to solid today, i pulled straight away got a 60 TSI, inadequate scorer. fired him straight away. unfortunately he has been my best ever youth pull in terms of skill level. and only inadequate. i know it'll happen some time, but i was passable for a while and nothing above weak at best.

Vesh, once you can afford it I would definitely invest 20 k per week, in the long run a good youth squad is such a good money maker, so I'd start at 20k per week and then later on down the track go 40 k.

By the way my youth squad just went up to solid :D :D :D

This was my first pull from the solid youth squad:

Ramón Waring (56088554)
18 years, passable form, healthy
A controversial person who is balanced and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities.

Speciality: Head

Nationality: Oceania
Total Skill Index (TSI): 630
Wage: 1 136 AU$/week
Owner: Sri Lanka Chuckerspinmen
Warnings: 0

Stamina: inadequate Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: passable Passing: poor
Winger: poor Defending: weak
Scoring: inadequate Set Pieces: wretched

Seen as I train forwards I guess I'll put him up on the transfer market.

Anyone have a realistic idea of what I could get for him?

pfft 100k is nothing. try bringing your team from more than 1mil below, thats tricky. but its not cool.. so yeah, stay where you are vesh!

yeah with my previous post, i meant to ask the more experienced campaigners if they reckon they get better pulls at a certain time, and if they think that you get the same person no matter which day you pull them during the week, i'm sure there has been studies on the subject!

yeah anyways. next week i'm pulling a solid playmaker, inadequate passing, passable defending, inadequate scoring, stamina the only real low point, being weak.. TSI around the 1500 mark! haha, that would make my day. hes 17 too!
i train playmaking, that'd be great. it'd probably be better at the moment if i could get someone solid somewhere else, so i could make some good money.
i saw this player the other day with solid playmaking, then not much else, TSI around 1000, go for like 1.8 mil. that'd be handy.

1.8 mil, solid playmaking??? i'm not so sure dude. i train playmaking and sold two solid playmakers for $200,000 and $320,000, but nothing like that dude. I think formidable playmakers go for that kinda of money, but it's rare for them solid playmakers I reckon

Harriers do not go in for this sort of thing. Swan Centre playmakers have Andrews at the heart of the level surfer-joey straights. It isn't as though we have one blast at this, as just one voucher qualifies. Did you recently scurrify? If not, why not? A gay meadow rarely does. Have you lux? Have you one Sodje! Of the Brentford variety! ;-)
