Unfortunately, Dog-E's cup run came to an end this week. But not before he gave the Pacific Premier side a bit of a fright, going into half-time at only 1-0 down. Ended up 3-0, but that result is quite an accomplishment for a Div IV team.

I guess that means that the LU Cup can start back up again next week:

Round 5
AFC Real Drexciya v Sydney City Crew
Hills Havoc v Rockhampton Wolves
Avalon Avengers v Red & Green Machine
Incredible Holc FC v CKA
Penrith Panthers v Central Coast Falcons
Ernesto's Strikeforce v Gisborne Heat
Heathcote Harriers v Whataloada Bulldogs

Funnily enough, I challenged Havoc to a friendly last week (todays match), not realising that we play each other in this round of the cup. I won 5-1 today, but this time we'll be playing at his home ground.

Any problems with the cup starting this round?

We can split it over the two rounds. Those of us who have already organised the LU Cup games can play them this coming Wednesday and then play a normal friendly the following week, while you and anybody else who has organised a friendly can play their games the next week. Then we can all come back together the week after that.

That happens occasionally when you buy a player. But after that first drop in TS it won't affect anything again.

As for the captain, experience is actually more important than leadership. I think every 1 level of experience is worth 2 levels of leadership.

Just to qualify what I said earlier for those of you who are newer, the captain and the team leader are two completely different things. The captain is whoever you choose as the captain in the team selection, and his experience helps with confusion (if you're playing a formation you don't normally use). A team leader is whoever has the highest leadership in the team, and affects team spirit. If he's got good agreeability, then team spirit will raise faster. If he's nasty or controversial, it'll drop faster. He never needs to play a match, he just affects things behind the scenes.

I've just put this guy on the transfer list. He's had one week of training since going excellent.

Mikey Currie (15700684)
21 years, passable form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is balanced and honest.
Has wretched experience and weak leadership abilities.

Speciality: Technical

Nationality: Oceania
Assessed value: 410 000 AU$
Wage: 2 640 AU$/week
Owner: Rockhampton Wolves
Warnings: 0

Stamina: passable Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: poor Passing: poor
Winger: passable Defending: excellent
Scoring: weak Set Pieces: weak

Deadline: 19/04/2004 at 05.37
Asking price: 800 000 AU$

With the money I get from him, I'll be hoping to buy a 17yo wingback with solid defending and passable winger.

In a few weeks I'll probably be selling a 23yo excellent defender, inad winger for about $600k.

i had a good 1-0 victory on the weekend, away to the second placed team. i wouldve captured 2nd place from 3rd, but the team below me is now ahead on goal difference. i think theres a 7 point difference from undefeated 1st, to 14 point equal second.. looks like i wont get promoted this season, but thats probably not a bad thing, considering experience etc.

My team seems to be having fun making me squirm on the sideline. Last week I was down 3-1 at halftime until a late fightback stole the win, and yesterday I was down 1-0 at halftime until two late goals got me the win. Tauivi Chadhury set another record for me, becoming the first player to get 4.5 stars. And that was being played offensively, he'd probably get 5 if played defensively. Give him another month or so and he'll pass the $2m value mark. :D

heres something a little wierd, and perhaps someone can explain to me..

during the last couple of weeks, two of the teams in my league have changed name and owner. one of those teams was leading the competition undefeated.
i did notice that that team hadnt had any friendlies, so maybe it was neglected or something. but the new guy looks to have heaps of good players, by saying that i mean in the 100 and 200 thousands, which is alright for div6 as far as i'm concerned!!

so i dont know if this could be a good thing for me, and maybe the new dude wont have a clue and lose. but i spose i'll wait and see..

I think as Mad Dogg wisely said, those who missed out on playing today in the LU cup should play it next week as it appears the majority missed out because they already had friendlies....I know my mate Strikeforce missed out against Gisbourne heat for that reason too....schedule the LU cup match for next week if thats ok with all and sundry?

It appears that he's lost his team due to inactivity. Which answers Poida's question, if someone hasn't logged on for a while (I think it's 5 weeks) he gets a e-mail sent to him, and if he still doesn't log on for another 2 weeks then he loses his team and it gets given to someone else. It's pretty much a new team with new players, the stadium and finances gets reset, but they keep the points that the other team won.

Same thing happened in my league, one team got re-assigned last week and another will go next week most likely. However they are the two bottom teams and are a long way behind the others, no matter what happens they'll be getting relegated this season. Bit unfortunate for Poida that the new team seems to have good players.

Only three games got played in the LU cup on Wednesday:

Havoc 3 v 2 Wolves
Avalon 0 v 5 Machine
Holc 2 v 1 CKA

Games to be played this week:
Drexciya v Crew
Strikeforce v Heat
Harriers v Bulldogs
??? v Falcons

Seems we need to get a new team to join for the LU Cup to take Penrith's spot. Poida or anybody else on here want in? If you've already arranged a friendly for this week we can postpone this one match until the end of the cup.
