I disagree. Saha, when fit, is still easily the best player to have upfront. People tend to forget just how damn good he is when he can just stay on the field for more than a few weeks. He wasn't far behind Drogba as the best striker in the Premier League in the first half of the season, and his form last season played a major role in us cashing in on Ruud.
In saying that, I don't think we can rely on him as our #1 striker anymore. This off-season we need to look at bring someone in (Torres has been linked with us for years, and there are also strong rumours about Huntelaar) to bring some consistency to the forward line. Or if we don't have enough money left over at the end of this season (I believe we will sign Hargreaves and either Nani or Quaresma - I prefer Quaresma but think it'll probably be Nani), then try to get through another year before the signing.
On another point, the injuries we have to our defence is just ridiculous. Stuff Chelsea's problems earlier this season, they didn't have any cover so it was hardly surprising to see them struggle to cope. Whereas we have arguably the best defensive strength in the world, with international players such as Brown, Heinze, Silvestre and O'Shea forming our second string backline. But having Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Silvestre and O'Shea all injured at the same time (not to mention having our two young stars Evans and Pique loaned out) has stetched even us to breaking point. Thankfully at least Evra came back before we lost Rio, else we'd be screwed. If we can just make it through the next couple of games we should be alright, as we should get Neville, Rio and O'Shea back into the team.
