13/04/2007 09:07Ronaldo signs new deal
Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with Cristiano Ronaldo on a new five-year contract keeping him at the club until at least June 2012.
Sir Alex Ferguson said: “It is fantastic news, it emphasises the point that Cristiano is happy here and that he is at the right club.
"He has a great relationship with the team, staff and the fans and he will go on to be one of Manchester United’s great players.”
Cristiano added: “I am delighted. I spoke with Sir Alex and David Gill about my future and everyone knew that I wanted to stay.
"I am very happy at the club. I want to win trophies and hopefully we'll do that this season."
11/04/2007 20:48, Report by Steve BartramBayern hint at Owen dealBayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer admits his club could be tempted to sell midfielder Owen Hargreaves when the transfer window opens.
United have been consistently linked with a move for the England international and allegedly still have an offer on the table for his services.
Beckenbauer told German television channel Premiere: "If it is right there is an offer of 25-30m euros (£17-20m), then I would seriously consider it.
"I think the board also think this way to satisfy the needs of the player."
Hargreaves has openly voiced his desire to move back to England on several occasions, with Sir Alex Ferguson making no secret of his admiration for the 26-year-old.

Mad Dogg said:I disagree. Saha, when fit, is still easily the best player to have upfront. People tend to forget just how damn good he is when he can just stay on the field for more than a few weeks. He wasn't far behind Drogba as the best striker in the Premier League in the first half of the season, and his form last season played a major role in us cashing in on Ruud.
In saying that, I don't think we can rely on him as our #1 striker anymore. This off-season we need to look at bring someone in (Torres has been linked with us for years, and there are also strong rumours about Huntelaar) to bring some consistency to the forward line. Or if we don't have enough money left over at the end of this season (I believe we will sign Hargreaves and either Nani or Quaresma - I prefer Quaresma but think it'll probably be Nani), then try to get through another year before the signing.
On another point, the injuries we have to our defence is just ridiculous. Stuff Chelsea's problems earlier this season, they didn't have any cover so it was hardly surprising to see them struggle to cope. Whereas we have arguably the best defensive strength in the world, with international players such as Brown, Heinze, Silvestre and O'Shea forming our second string backline. But having Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Silvestre and O'Shea all injured at the same time (not to mention having our two young stars Evans and Pique loaned out) has stetched even us to breaking point. Thankfully at least Evra came back before we lost Rio, else we'd be screwed. If we can just make it through the next couple of games we should be alright, as we should get Neville, Rio and O'Shea back into the team.

Dida doubtful
AC Milan goalkeeper Dida faces a race against time to be fit for his side's Champions League semi-final first leg against United at Old Trafford next Tuesday.
The Brazilian stopper injured his right shoulder after falling against his post during Milan's 3-1 win at Messina on Sunday.
According to Milan club doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman, Dida's shoulder remains swollen and further medical tests will be carried out on Thursday.
"We're worried," Meersseman told Gazzetta dello Sport. "We want to get a better understanding of the situation but we can't yet because Dida's shoulder is swollen.
"On Thursday, if the swelling has gone down, we will carry out more tests. Naturally, the goal is Manchester, but there's not much hope."
Meersseman also confirmed that this type of injury usually takes 8 to 10 days to heal. Australia goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac is likely to deputise in Dida's absence.
