gonna ramble here a little... but please indulge me...

I think they suffered from not having one overall person in charge keepin an eye on the big picture.

you look at successful trilogy’s like the original one... you had Lucas guiding it... LOTR’s was Peter Jackson’s vision...

and even the MCU you had Feige and his team the overall architect putting the right film makers in play for the right films covering different tones but still moving in service of the overall infinity saga story arc and it carries down to the actual film makers themselves like the Russo’s 4 MCU films... Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War & Endgame...

Kathleen Kennedy just hasn’t done as good a job of putting the right film makers in place... and that includes writers.

Jon Favreau is obviously the overarching head for the Mandalorian and he has Dave Feloni with him who’s an absolute SW’s nut... and he almost does it like a mini MCU... he writes the stories with Feloni and they have a whole group of directors doing each episode and weave them together. And it lets Faverau and Feloni have that consistent gritty western theme running across the entire series which I think is important.

then there’s Faverau’s love of pushing the boundaries of FX technology in film from what he did in the original Iron Man films to the live action Jungle Book and even more so the live action Lion King. But what he’s done with that giant 360 LCD soundstage called ‘The Volume’ is pretty f**king amazing...

if you ever get a chance... watch the Disney+ documentary series they did on the Mandalorian... I think it’s called galley... especially the technology episode.

Yeah that was a great opener. I thought Timothy Olyphant was good and I like how they’ve expanded on the sand people. Wasn’t that keen on going back to Tatooine but it was inevitable given how the last ep there finished. Was a good story though.

This show is basically saving Star Wars so I hope they keep it up.

Possibly (probably). I think they were using the scene where the dragon went for the Raider instead of the Bantha to show it wasn’t dumb enough to take the bait.

so Luke is probably it... my son had an interesting idea.. he thought they could give him to Ashoka Tano... but I’m not sure if she’s even still alive.

She was Anakin’s padawan... so well trained... but she’s not a Jedi anymore... and I think she’s old as hell too...

Watched the 2nd episode... a bit meh if I’m honest...

The production value once again was AMAZING for a TV show... the razor crest vs X-Wings was definitely movie worthy.

the story was the meh part... it completely ignored the big twist at the end of Ep1... and it just felt like a filler episode which did absolutely nothing for the overall story.

filler episodes can be good In series with long seasons... it can break up a story a little. but not in a 8 episode season IMO...

The plots on this show are pretty f**king ridiculous.

It looks great, but geez the writing is shit.

I think we need to stop expecting something big, story wise every episode. I get that they are only 8 episode seasons but there will always be 2 or 3 “filler” eps with world building or character advances (eg. Mandos position with the New Republic) mixed into a self contained story.
For what this episode was, I thought it was really good.

although way too short!

Having seen all of clone wars and rebels certainly helps... although it is infuriating knowing all Mando has to do to find a Jedi is literally find an X-Wing and ask them to take them to a general.

seeing Bo-Kataan was pretty f**king trippy... but the fact that they are looking for the Dark Saber and Mando just came across Gideon is a bit dumb.

Crazy to see them actually mention Asohka Tano as well... I wonder if Sebine Wren is with her.. as that was how it ended in Rebels.

Good episode. I really wish these were released full season in 1 go, I don’t have the will power not to watch every week but the teasing about where we are headed is frustrating. I rewatched the 1st season before the 2nd season started and, though I loved it first tome around, the “filler”episodes seemed better because you are moving on quicker.
Didn’t feel as short as it was, but under 30mins is pushing it.

Didn’t see it while watching but saw it reported and went back to see it. Pretty funny, and amazing it wasn’t spotted in post somewhere.
