The 'Mark Geyer great ideas' thread

I wonder why most people on here hate everyone that is a commentator on TV for Rugby League. Gus, Vossy, Geyer, Vautin, Johns, M.Johns, Ikin, Daley, Tallis, Alexander, the list goes on.

Oooohhhh thats right. Its because people on here never say anything stupid.

Some like some, some like others? It's not whether they say something stupid half the time, some of their personalities I cannot personally stand.

Yeah not targeting you or anyone personally NT. But people on here will see something in someone they dont like, then they will LOOK for another thing wrong with them, then another, then they will totally rubbish them when ever they get the chance.

Gus is the best example. Sure he is a bit of a gas bag, but he knows a heap more about on field Rugby league then all coaches in the ESL combined. And he might say a few hipocritical things everynow and then, but im sure that ANYone who was on TV, expressing their opinion to the public for about 10 hours a week, something will come accross as hipocritical.

I know what you mean mate, and I never took is as targeting. It's so easy though for these personalities to get rubbished, sports presenters are nearly the easiest target for it. I can't argue your point, I couldn't nail answers on the TV let alone state my opinions. I don't know how he can do it with a straight face sometimes.

if you listen to him on the radio in the afternoon
he agree with every crackpot idea that the listeners bring up.

Its true...and the majority of callers to that show make MG look like Phil Gould and Warren Ryan combined.

i once remember him supporting the idea of one forward pass per set of six i.e gridiron style.(but watching lately maybe some of the refs agreed as well)
he rambled on saying that the game needs a injection of new ideas blah blah blah

Actually that was Bill Harrigan - lets not start on some of his ideas !!

geyer's funny, always soemthing that makes me laugh. i like how he wanted the haka banned.

i also like when they ask him to justify one of his half thougth out ideas.

funniest thing he did recently was when he was talking about how coaches need to give players space before a game and he spoke about gould and how gould would make his pre game speech and leave and geyer said the players would all stand there staring blankly at each other (which he re-created)

Use this thread to list all the great ideas MG has for improving our game. Creating a thread is the only way I can keep track of his laugh-a-minute ideas.

1. Referees should hold press conferences after every game to explain their decisions.(Sunday Roast 2009)
2. On Glenn Stewarts suspension before Origin " He should be given the choice of missing one origin match - or 8 NRL matches" (Sunday Roast 2009)
3. The Warriors should be kicked out. (RLW 2007)
4. Tries from scrums should be worth 5 points (Sunday Roast 2009)

Keep it going guys !

If you Aks me, he has as many ideas as there are callers...but I digress...

Update Sunday 19th July 2009

1. We should introduce the Mercy rule in the NRL - 50 points - game over!
2. One marker only - - dummy half can't get caught with the ball.

Total Goose? Yeah sometimes i agree, but as you say has no ego what so ever, which league fans like, well i do anyway.
The Roast would be sh*t without him.

I forget what team to which he was referring to but he said they've done a full 360 on their season.

Yesterdays installment :

Any players that argue on the field should be fined. Doesnt set a good example to the children!

Didnt see him say the same thing when Price was knocked to Auckland by Brett White.
