So clearly the NRL wants the Sharks and Brisbane to be strong and hence continue to give them favourable treatment such as easy draws and soft player suspensions. They are investing in these teams and ensuring ongoing success to protect their investment.

Do other sporting organisations around the world help certain teams by investing in properties around them?

"NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said at the time buying hotels was about cost and revenue synergies while Mr V’landys said he expected the hotels to generate a 10 per cent annual return on investment.

“The surplus is for reinvestment,” Mr Abdo said in February. “That new revenue stream will not only result in more funds available for distribution – more to clubs, more to players, more to grassroots football – it will future-proof the game against an impact on other revenue.
“All three [hotels] are bought in vicinity to where we play grassroots or elite rugby. The plan is to grow quite significantly using rugby league IP and our major events … to drive the performance of these assets.”

I will never get this Robo hate. He won a comp back to back. Has Bellamy? Bellamy would win one and not make it the next if you count the ones he won fairly not the ones taken off him. Beallamy had 3 immortals at one stage play with him in Cronk, Smith and Slater. Robbo's strike rate at GF's is 100% where as Bellamy's is 3 out of 8 I think. I would take Robo over Bellamy in a heartbeat. Robo's only struggles are due to injury. He has stumbled into finals and lost class players like Manu, JWH, Radley, Teddy or Walker during those games. They beat the Sharks without Teddy, Manu and Suallii and were down a man a couple of years ago.

Robbo's current form against Penrith and Storm is bad but his injury toll / suspensions has been shocking the last few years.
Robbo has the best roster EVERY SEASON. Politis makes certain of this. Even going into 2025 he still has an awesome squad, even with the departure of Manu, JWH etc. The perceived bad luck with injuries they have had have been no worse than any other club. It is just that the media write and promote their pre-made excuses. Poor poor Chooks. I remember games where we've had just as many as them out, but because their outs are marquee, they get the sympathies from the press. The game when we beat the Panthers last season, we had a similar number out, but because theirs was Cleary, T'oo, etc, that became an excuse for the Panthers loss. Robbo is not that good a coach. At the beginning of 2024, he couldn't fit Angus Chrichton, Daniel Tupou, Connor Watson, Sia Wong into his top 17. They had a few injuries and then Chrichton, Tupou and Watson became regular top 17. What a great luxury to have superstars unable to make your squad.
Robbo is a myth and the back to backs were because of Cooper Cronk. His squads should be in every grand final. They start favourites every season. If Flanno has his squad, he'd RARELY lose.

So does Bellamy and he has yet to win back to back. That is my point. Winning back to back is not easy seeing super coach Bellamy can't achieve this (without cheating) yet Bennett, Robbo and Clearly have in the last 30+ years where salary caps are in place. Robbo is in with elite company.
