people are silly to think this:
ok he is getting 500k a year here, great money
1mil in france wont go as far.... as for this whole get to travel thing, do people realise it costs money too?
for the money he will earn there to his cost of living it wont work out to different from when in oz...

He's not going to spend a million a year. He'll spend what he has to and still end up way on top by the end of his contract. If he's earning 500k a year and spending say 150k, he's 350k on top. If he's earning 1m k a year, and spending 300 he's still saving + 700 for example...

People on here saying that they would not change employers for double the salary are either stupid or liars(those running a business are exempt). Are we to really believe that you would stay with your current employer if another employer was to,

* offer you at least double the $$,
* with additional tax incentives on top of this
* The chance to live in one of the most beautiful cities on earth.
* Live in the city your fiance grew up in.
* Ensure you and your future families financial security.

Really ? what a load of horse shyte. I think it is just peoples bling hate for the guy clouding their judgement. How pathetic.

I must admit I am sad to see hi leave, however someone else will come along, make no bones about that. On another matter I think 2 things should be a certainty, and be in effect immediately.

Gaz not to be considered for any future rep games, & has the captaincy taken of him IMMEDIATELY.

You make the choice to move on, take it on the chin.

what i do resent is the drama and disruption his farting arounf has caused our club and how it must be making the rest of the players feel.
i understand what you're saying here, but this is where St. Gong should have had been firm on Gaz and given him a deadline on making a decision. It's just Gaz. In the meantime, they missed out on re-signing younger talent or bolstering the list.

There's a situation currently going on in the NFL with Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers.......Favre undoubtedly a greater and more important player now and historically to the Packers than what Gaz ever was and would be to St. Gong. The Packers gave Favre a chance and a deadline to return which he didnt take up......now he wants to return and the Packers have told him they've moved on. He is still technically under contract with the team and if Favre does return he may very well be a 2nd stringer.

i dont want him playing the rest of the season in the red v.
and its not as though the team needs him either...........they were winning without him.

It's pretty obvious fans want League players to treat the game as more than just a 'job'. Any Shyte for brains could figure that out.

Well unfortunately players do not, and should not consider what the fans want, when they are trying to secure their future.

Are you saying you would knock back an employer who would-

* offer you at least double the $$,
* with additional tax incentives on top of this
* The chance to live in one of the most beautiful cities on earth.
* Live in the city your fiance grew up in.
* Ensure you and your future families financial security.

Would You change your allegiance to Union for 1mil?

isnt that a good question.

people like tallis can bag them all they want, but for double the pay for half the work and getting to live in europe not many will so no.

RL came about because RU woulnt pay the players properly. if we cant do that now and they can, we cant blame them when its the basis of the sport.

the fault lies with RL administrators when they have a competition which is a million times more popular than any rugby union competition on earth and still doesnt have the money to compete with them

Exactly.

But keep that on the down low.

Reality stings.

the game's still being run like a local district league.

add to that, the obvious intelligence-level and general way the sport is sold by personalities on television, League will always be pigeon-holed as an interest aimed at the working-class. The game will never grow when its perceived in this way.

Yeah, that's what i'm saying:sarcasm:. I agree with Gazs' decision, that's a whole lota cash he's going to be earning.

There's another side to the story, aswell. Gasnoir is leaving a country that pretty much hates the him now. Would i change my job for benifits similar to what you mentioned? Yes. Would it be the same situation? No.

It's too simple saying League is just like any other job.
