You guys are kidding yourselves if you think Moyza is our worst signing ever.
Either that or you have blocked out the Anderson years. A mountain of shockers in there.
at least they all took the field and pretended to be footballers.
moyza too busy having a laugh with the boys in the sheds.
flushed the better part of 900k down the shitter.
cant believe the no. of shit players across the comp on the big bucks.

Yeah but Bubs, not in the same coin. Super expensive dud.
He's definitely our most expensive flop.
Well the salary cap has risen a great deal in recent times.
If you take it as a percentage taken out of the cap available I would say Nobby is by far our biggest flop.
He was the most paid player in the team and we only got to the finals 3 out of the 7 years he was at The helm.
Moylan, 3 out of 3 years he has been with us.
Perspective is a funny thing.

we have a much higher calibre of player at the club now.
moyza contributed almost nothing to being in the finals each year and has ridden a post gf wave.
albeit a declining one.

So the goalposts change and it now depends on the calibre of player surrounding the other players.
Ok
Maybe they couldn't afford the better calibre players because Nobby took up way too much of the cap.
Either way it adds up to Kimmorley being the biggest flop this club has spent money on.

thats in relation to success rate.
the success of the club making the finals definitely depends on the calibre of players in the squad. does it not?
im not disagreeing noddy was a dud.
he was.
at least he took the field each week and had some positive influences on games.

I've already answered the calibre of players in relation to results.
Kimmorley took up way too much of the cap which meant we couldn't buy better players, hence weakening the club, with not much success. Double hence, meaning the biggest flop the club has put their marbles behind.

Edit: Triple hence, Moylan is a flop, he's just not the biggest one, which had been stated.

I wish he wasn't as I jured as he is, but he is. I'm sure he's not happy about it. Regardless, we need to cut him.

Noddy still managed to play rep footy while he was with us and barely missed a game for us.

Moyza is on a motza, struggles to get on the field and has a shocker and an average game for every decent game for us. That's why I'd say he's the biggest flop we've signed.

Still another year to go to prove me wrong and I hope he does.

Noddy was on well over $500k in 2002 (so easily $1m+ in today's terms) and for that we got mediocrity when we could have kept the Dally M halfback of the year who drew thousands through the gates of Shark Park, who we had just resigned for a modest $150k.

i don't think anyone wanted preston to leave.
at the time whether you me or anyone likes it or not noddy was considered one of the best half backs on the market.
proportionally he took up ~14-15% of the cap.
not dissimilar to evans for manly in today's terms.
moyza ~ 9% of our cap.
we got value from noddy.
we get non from moyza.
to say otherwise is delusional.
noddys value didn't weaken our squad to the point of not being able to assemble a side capable of finals football.
nor has moyza been the reason we've made the finals for 3 years.
we have an inherently stronger squad which naturally makes us more competitive.
for mine moyza is the bigger flop.

Just posting in this thread, as I could not be bothered starting another one / searching...

NFL had a big COVID break - limited training camps, no pre-season...

Now - lots of injuries!!!!

Just sayin’...

And Noddy played through some big injuries, and for all those who did not like him, he busted his gut on the field, how many times has Moylan ran down the field following a clearing kick to make the first tackle

For the new style of NRL you need younger players and a coach who understands them. Look at Penrith. They have the right combo of coach and player age. So do we. We don’t need wooden heads like Griffin, Bennett and McGuire. The other thing here in you need younger players coming through. Putting pressure on those above. I believe this side will play in a future GF, but we also should be looking at more players to bring on via the Jets. What might work is a cap on contract time, say two seasons only with one year extensions for all players, build the youth culture.

not only was he chasing he was kicking also.
still probably one of the best kick chases I've seen.
he also played in 2 of 3 biggest club wins for the sharks.
one of those against A.Johns Knights.

I think this is mostly true, but Penrith have a more formal coaching structure ... can't remember his name, but they've had the same development guy for 5 or 6 seasons who Cleary worked with in his first Panthers stint, playing a similar role to what Morris was doing with the juniors coming through. He's stayed in that role and the support of Barrett, Ciraldo as constants has enabled Cleary to get his squad together.

We've, by necessity, had to promote Morris too early and he's lacking support. Not sure what the club's plans are, but looking at how Barrett and the Dogs are structuring their coaching is Penrith-esque. I'm sure Morris knows the type of guys he wanted above him when he was the development guy, if the club gives him some control to model the coaching team in his image (reflecting that of Penrith like carina identified rightly) then yeah, the squad is Penrith-esque for 2022 imo

Still can’t believe we bought Moylan when it was pretty obvious the type of fragile player he was...
