Dire Straits was the first concert I ever went to. Hordern Pavilion March 1983 (so just before the clip posted above)

I saw them during the Brothers in Arms Tour in 1986 at the Entertainment Centre during one of the 20 shows they had there in March - April 1986.

I've always had a soft spot for Sinead O'Connor's music.

Mandinka is probably one of the best songs to come out of 1988 when you look back.

Emperor's New Clothes - quite possibly one of my favourite songs of 1990s - although there was plenty of fantastic songs out that year.

Absolutely hated Nothing Compares 2U when I was in early Year 8. Now, it is a classic to me.

I think everyone got sick of Nothing Compares To You because it got flogged to death on the radio., i definately preferred the Emperor's New Clothes to Nothing compared To You at the time.

I really liked this version of Nothing Compares To You by Chyp-Notic and have the extended dance mix of it, danced to it many a time at dance parties in the 90s.

Two movies i like to watch late at night, two guilty pleasures, after the success of Dracula and Frankenstein there were lots of sequels and of course the story lines got more implausible but a lot of fun at the same time.

House Of Dracula

Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman

You can't go wrong with the classic Universal Monster movies!

I want to sit down and watch them in order one night or over one weekend.
Frankenstein and Bride Of Frankenstein stand up on their own and also Son Of Frankenstein which was Karloff's last outing on the monster is in a league of its own even though i cant quite call it a classic in its own right like the first two, after that everything gets thrown out the window and the story lines get far fetched but they are just so much fun and i never get sick of watching the ones that come after Son Of Frankenstein in the series especially with the short running times which cram so much in.

Interesting that the restored blu ray version of Son Of Frankenstein had an extra running time from the original DVD/ video release, there are a couple of minor extra scenes in the print so when i read this i checked my blu ray version and it had the extra bits on it compared to my standard DVD release, wonder where Universal found the print they did for the blu ray ?

Those first two Frankensteins are true classics and,as you said, the later films do get very far fetched but that's what makes them so watchable. I definitely like your idea of watching them all in order, that's my idea of a good time!

I rate Dracula as classic too but not as keen on the two sequels Dracula's Daughter and Son of Dracula but they are still a bit of fun to watch especially Dracula's Daughter but i don't rate them in the same league of the Frankenstein sequels.
I watched Dracula one night and watched the Spanish version also which was shot at the same time, the English version was shot during the day and the Spanish version shot at night using most of the same sets, have to say the Spanish version is longer and seems more fluid and revealing but the one thing it doesn't have is Bela Lugosi as the count and Dwight Frye as Renfield. It is interesting watching both versions back to back and comparing them.

Yeah, I watched them both back to back a very long time ago. You're definitely right that the Spanish version is the superior of the two despite not having Bela in it.

The opening scenes in the English version are great but once the story settles down in England the movie plays out like a stage play and Helen Chandler and David Manners are very stilted acting wise. The Spanish version shows longer shots like the vampire leaving the coffins and i even think the final death scene is on the screen( its been a long time since i have seen it ), the female lead Lupita Tovar is more out going and showing off lots of cleavage than Helen Chandler in the English version who is covered up and very stilted, but no one can better Bela Lugosi as the count and Dwight Fryes descent into madness as Renfield is fascinating to watch, Edward Van Sloane as Van Helsing is very good also.

Lol, just found this which basically says what i said earlier.

Bela does actually turn up in the Spanish version for a brief second, they use the same scene outside the opera house.

Edit, Bela is in two scenes in the Spanish version, the above mentioned outside the Opera House and another brief scene where he is walking in the fog past the policeman on the way to Lucy's house, both scenes only amount to a few seconds and are stock footage from the English version.

Came across the logon details for my old spotify account so I reactivated it and found some random gems I've not heard since I last logged in - 2015
