True but you could give credit where credit is due - the warriors could of easily been smashed also. They got up in a way we haven't seen in a long time and were dominant in the pack!

We will see this weekend though.

Hmmm the Dragons had four forwards running over 100meters in that game and the Warriors had one forward running over 100meters and were the dominate pack.

Whilst Mannering would be one of the last forwards I'd drop, by far the biggest disappointment for me this season is the overall performance of our pack. Besides the leaky defense, it's hit or miss if we'll even gain parity with the opposing pack. Our go-forward is very patchy and unreliable. There have been very few (if any) periods where we've dominated/steamrolled the opposition like the Cowboys pack does on a regular basis. There's very little creativity - I don't mind Thompson, but he's a key player out wide in a lot of our attacking plays in the opposition 20, yet he dies with the ball 99.9% of the time that it gets passed to him. They need to be a lot better at creating time and space for our backs and halves.

Not sure I'd agree our pack is the source of defensive woes... but they are just a middle of the road NRL pack, the Cowboys pack is outstanding, the power and depth is excellent - others are much much better than ours.

That said, I think more of the issues lie in the backline, but yes would love a Tamou or Taumalolo to add punch

I think they are key to a lot of our dramas TBF. They lose the battle of the ruck consistently week in week out. Their tackle technique and wrestle is really poor. You regularly see virtual nobodies become the next Kerrod Walters when they play the Warriors. As time goes on, the defence tightens up its line and I think this creates gaps and confusion on the edges and players panic - sometimes they cover up, sometimes they don't. FWIW I think a bloke like Hazem El-Masri would be great for the Warriors, similar to his role at the Bulldogs, he was brilliant at cutting off edge attacks. Manu tries the same approach but his timing is not Hazem like.

Mannering is not the problem. He's usually one of the first blokes in the scramble trying to stop tackle breaks becoming line breaks. I believe strongly the word you keep hearing that this bloke is par excellence in terms of commitment and setting the standard. For whatever reason others just haven't followed his example. Perhaps the poppin 6 debacle will be that line in the sand and people follow Mannering's approach to preparation.

And who was dissing Veitchy back there!? Show some respect man, he's our leading sports journo (by a mile) and the way he turned his life around and re-forged his career is an absolute inspiration to us all. The way the poor guy dealt with his past, to come back from that, incredible stuff. Now that is hard work. I mean, ffs, it's not like he just got away with it cold, strolled back into his career and big fancy house, without any shame or remorse.

Is this dripping in sarcasm? I hope so!
