the value of mannering over the last 10 years has been enourmous. IMO one of the greatest warriors along with stacey. Anyways what have we done to unearth another big, white, smart, player probably ex union player......imo nothing....i mean we have gone through dozens of forwards but none have had the impact over the years of mannering. Why arent management looking for these types aged 16-20 , probably in the rugby union fields of the south island....., instead of the usual big strong dominant in age groups polynesian boy, who we have by the truck load and many don't seem to cut it.
I'm trying not to be racist here but there must be others.....

Matt Robinson is an ex Warriors U20s who followed Ivan to the Penny Panthers. He's since moved into the Titans but can't seem to get a look in at 1st grade. He's definately in the Mannering mold. He's about 23-24yrs and would be close to 190cms. Could be worth s sniff??

How about getting a decent Maori player before they wind up at the Storm too?

Matt had a good Trial in Whangarei playing with a 3rd string Titans side.
I just question his size; it seems like, for the Warriors, bigger is better.
Same with David Bhana.

We got x2 good Maoris. Luke and Thompson. Whilst Luke is out of form. Thompson has been sound for 2 seasons with us. But yeah some more Maori players outside the usual 09 makeup would be great!

tbh Mannering was an athlete first and a "footballer" second. He's a bit of a "plodder" in the sense that he has a very limited skillset but it's actually his athleticism that makes him shine. It's easy to underestimate how big, strong and fast Mannering is (and especially was, when he was younger) imo. It's what sets him apart from a genuine plodder. Actually this whole thing is quite ironic as Mannering is very much your classic modern player who is picked for his athletic potential moreso than pure rugby league skills.

TBH there arn't that many white boys running around in junior NZ League are there? In Wellington I could count less than a dozen. Auckland must be similar.

I'm watching a lot of high school rugby at the moment and the white boys there are still less than a third.

Given that only a small percentage of those playing ever make it, it stands to reason that as there are fewer whities, then few of them that make it are of European descent.

You'd have to go back 40 years or so to find a Kiwis side with more Europeans than Maori and Polynesian players. That's more or less my lifetime and I can't remember one.

Simon Mannering .....Meh .............meh ...............

7 years ago he had a balance across his skill set last 3 or so years he is just a plodder who is a tackle bot. Ironically if you can tackle at the warriors then you gain legendary status with the warriors fans, Just ask Michael Luck plucked from reserve grade at the Cowboys to become an immortal at the warriors.

Simon Mannering, the more he plays for the Warriors the more they lose, and when he is out the warriors win>>>>>>>>>>>>> I wonder why?

If Simon was a New Zealand rugby player, he will be dumped to club rugby, so limited is his skill set - put him at the warriors and he is 4 x player of the year.

Says it all about what this club has become and why the wood is so rotten.

Not trying to be all PC here on anything, but does the fact that Mannering is white really have much, or anything to do with it?

I wish all our tacklebot plodders averaged over 100m a game and had 48 offloads for the season.

Too bad their skillset is too limited for that....
