The four nominees for assistant managers are in no particular order:

Lord Ted
Roopy
MFC
pepe

A few points to cover first.

I agree Saint, it is not the perfect system but the managers have had a good look at all the contributors to this site and I have to say I can't find fault with any of the choices. We gave ourselves time to assess the merits of all the members of this site and a few points were taken into consideration. As you can see though, from the time we advised the site we would be appointing two new managers to the time it took to have the final four was a while.

The nominees must not be moderators on another site as that would create a conflict of interest and i'm sure all would agree. I don't want anyone to feel they have pressure on them from another site and hence their could be a feeling of divided loyalties and sooner or later things will break down.

We also looked at the contributions people were making to the site and what effect the extra responsibility will have on the four nominated. Each has a chance to reject the nomination if they choose.

Also, the last point I want to stress is we are not getting all wrapped up in our own self importance and making a mountain out of a molehill by doing this. Any one of us could have easily appointed the two at the drop of a hat and not told anyone but we all agreed this way would add some extra interest to the site and keep to our word of letting the members have the final say.

The polling will last one week and it will be first past the post whereby each member gets one vote. Having a preference system would defeat the purpose if you ask me.

My thanks to the managers for nominating me. Just looking at some of the posters on this site I can see you must have had a very difficult task to cut the number of nominees down to four, and I'm frankly very surprized that I made the final four.
Lord Ted, Pepe and MFC are all worthy nominees. I was planning to say which two would be getting my vote at this point, but I can see the merit of all three of those guys and wouldn't like to exclude any one of them. Perhaps I'll just say that I think the youthful approach of MFC would be good for the balance of the managerial team.

The reasons you have outlined, are the exact reasons why I won't bother voting.

I did think of that bomber but if the members voted in private would everybody trust a person to tally the votes? If you can think of a fair system that is fully transparent then i'd love to hear it. If it means we appoint one person as a overseer to the election and people send their votes directly to him/her. Please feel free to come forward if you have any suggestions on how to fine tune the process.

Does anyone know how to create a spreadsheet with voting buttons? That would solve everything. We could add it as an attachment to this thread and after a week the results would be there for all to see and it guarantees anonymity and possible divisions on the forum.

first of all thanks for being nominated by legend etc,god knows how my name came up.

there are many quality posters on this forum and i'm definatlynot one of them,maybe i represent the blue collar posters out there,thats my only explanation for being nominated.

bomber you make alot of sense,i know i would have withheld my vote as well,it's putting people in an uncomfortable position having to favour someone by putting a tick next to there name,i'm sure most would agree that it's best if the voting was done another way,why not e-mail legend as we pretty much trust him,maybe his wife could double check the count as he is afterall an accoutant.

If all are in favour of a private e-mail then I will set up a central address for everybody to cast their vote. Should the other managers get a look at the e-mails as they all elected one person? What are everybodys thoughts? I don't mind being held accountable but I would like to have one other on this forum to doublecheck the results and the members hsould decide who that person is.
