Beaten by a better team. We came back and I thought they were there for the taking but just wasn't to be

Melbourne were too good for us and probably played the 50/50 moments better than us. It is true, they don't give you much at all.

Melbourne were the better team on the day, pretty much all across the park.

We couldn't really get our momentum up, even though we did well to fight back twice in the second half, we were still doing it tough.

Their kicking game and chase were too good, their defensive line was good enough, they shut down Hayne's attacking options effectively, and they bruised our forwards in teh opening 15. Pretty much they did to us what we'd been doing to other teams.

I don't look for excuses, or for scapegoats. It's an achievement to make the Grand Final, we have had a wild ride and we gave it our best shot on the day against a better team.

Poor options in the first half.....

We had a halfback who was a third string halfback for a reason but is now i believe a second string, however that is not knocking him, he has been fantastic, unfortunately a good halfback was what we needed tonight when it mattered most. I would be happy for Robbo to be our back up half next year for sure.

3 soft tries through missed tackles......Melbourne knew they had us as soon as Hoffman went through so easily......

Boys did well and can be proud, next year should be awesome!

Definitly a lack of experience, and it seemed like Jarryd was trying to force things to much rather than just play what is in front of him.
A good learning experience especially for the younger guys, and hopefully that holds them in good stead for 2010.

I think we overachieved in a asense, a half back who inn the past couple of games has confirmed why he hasn't been involved in too many first grade games in his career. Tried hard but unfortunately it is difficult to win with a 7 who is a bit behind the game.

Lowrie just had his worst game in 7/8 weeks, and Archer cost us an opportunity, but still Finch?Harrigan won't say anything, that really firstrated me, a poor decision like that which really altered the course of the last 4 minutes.

Great ride, terrific games from Hindy and Fui, look forward to 2010 and KK playing 7.

The ruck was very slow and haf breaks couldn't get turned into more. Melbourne's scrambling defence kept them in it. They made clean breaks and tries resulted. The better attacking side lost but Melbourne's defence and their patience got them home.

Agree the last tackle options in first half were terrible, and Melbourne did play a safer more consistent game. Missing crucial tackles cost us early on and what was with the no contesting of THAT bomb? Ridiculous. So hopefully to bigger and beter things next year!

The no contest was because Reddy was off the field and I don't think the other guys were alert enough to get in the right position.

I am no where near being as devastated as I was in 2001 or even 2005 for that matter. I think we just were outclassed tonight. The game was there for the taking at the end but our halves showed their inexperience when it mattered most. Archer didn't help but we should not have relied on that decision in the first place.

Well done to Melbourne. They deserved it.
