They'd better hope the new Brisbane club isnt successful then lol. Storm have very few Queenslanders in the squad now so not sure what he current excuse for the Broncos poor player development is?
PR, their two best are Munster and Grant. Even though the Cheese is a Kiwi, he was identified by the Storm when he was a Cowboy. Not to mention Nicho Hynes was playing Qld Cup when he was signed by them. The Storms ability to identify talent is a credit to the organisation. That hurts to even say.

Their best is a Hills District boy who was unwanted by the Tigers.

That must also mean that Bellamy is staying away from the club, as Brisbane were supposedly targeting him as their coaching director/head of football.

For me, Ikin is a bit of a strange appointment . I mean there is no doubt he is far more articulate than Kevie and knows how to handle the media better, but I'm not sure how we actually helps the club beyond that.

He doesn't have any coaching experience that I know of, or recruitment or pathways or talent ID or salary cap management. He isn't close to player agents, nor even has experience in club land before.

It feels a bit like Steve Price's appointment at the Bulldogs in the same titled role. All it did was create tension at the club and resulted in no improvement.

I was a staunch ARL supporter during the war. Murdoch bought out a number of clubs with the big prize being their ownership of the Brisbane Broncos. Massive on field success, extra money coming via the Thoroughbreds and a monopoly on the cream of juniors coming through the various Queensland juniors. No juniors worth their salt would sign for Cowboys or Gold Coast. Then the Murdoch’s started to eat their own. Even though little Lachie Murdoch is a Broncos fan, his own man and News Corp created the second Brisbane team and called it the Melbourne Storm. The Storm have had a monopoly on Queensland juniors and the coaching and management that Brisbane once dominated. I hate the Storm with a passion, but the fact that the Murdoch’s and their cronies bank rolled them blindly at the expense of Brisbane is a classic case of shooting yourself in the foot.
It's ironic and karmic.

That's because the Storm have had a couple of really good recruitment Managers. The Broncos have not had a decent recruitment Manager since the late Cyril Connell retired. It shows by the players they either knocked back (e.g. Cronk, Smith) or the players they did recruit (e.g. Matt Lodge, Milford) over the last 12 or so years.
