Bulls all out for 137, Tait with 7 for 29. He's putting plenty of pressure on the selectors.

A great comeback match from Shaun Tait. Should be in the test side IMO , even with brett lee who is bowling with a different style.

overall figures for the match of 10/98. His best ever figures at first class level.

nsw are now 5/272.

this pitch must be a very hard one to bat on. The average strike rate from both team is about 35.

It should be pretty hard to chase anything over 300 on the final day.

I was in Queensland at the match, thats why. He looked ok in the 2nd dig until he played a poor shot, but he started to hit the ball well. The quicker that we f**k off a few of our nuffies -ie. Doran and co we might start winning! Watson is apparently 1 game away from bowling again which is good. Had a good chat to him yesterday.:D

Not even close, just chatted about other things other than cricket, plus I asked him about when he was due to be bowling. Mainly when I talk to him it is about other stuff apart from cricket. Sunshine has a good sense of humour. Even he was lighthearted about his batting form!

I guess Watson would have had plenty of free time as he did not waste too much of it pretending to be a batsman.

BTW... did you swallow ... or just change hands ?

He looked ok in the 2nd innings. Tait is not easy to face on a seaming pitch, probally the hardest bowler to face in those conditions in Australia. The quickest bowler by a mile and he actually swings the ball. And he was upbeat despite being dismissed early in the 1st innings. And I did not do anything physically with him, he is with Lee Furlong remember!

What number is Sunshine's ticket and did the fellow with the next ticket wait until he had finished before he started his turn ?

Stop bagging Sunshine. He will prove he is awesome when he gets some match fitness under his belt. And he is starting to get that now!

Mail hundred gives NSW hope

By Adam Cooper
December 02, 2007

A COMEBACK century by opener Greg Mail has given New South Wales a good chance to beat Victoria outright and go clear atop the Pura Cup table.

Mail scored a vital 125 in his side's second-innings total of 6-281, which gave the Blues a lead of 278 runs at stumps on day three at the MCG.

NSW are likely to bat on on Monday and back their strong bowling attack to dismiss Victoria on a last-day pitch.

Victoria drew level on 20 points with NSW by claiming first-innings points on day two, but Blues captain Simon Katich said the team's aim was to chase outright victory, which would put them four points clear of their old foe.

"We're here to play for six points so the declaration will definitely be with that in mind,'' he said.

Mail was a late call-up for this match to replace Ed Cowan, but has enjoyed an excellent game.

He made 43 in the first innings, took the vital wicket of Victoria's David Hussey and batted for most of the day to complete his century.

Mail and Phillip Hughes (51) posted a century stand in the first innings and even though Victoria dismissed the in-form Simon Katich (10) cheaply, they could not prevent NSW building a good lead.

Mail acknowledged being 29 in a side keen to promote youth had made it difficult for him to play regularly this season .

"A week ago I didn't think I'd get another game so it's nice to be here having made a hundred,'' he said.

"I'm not finished just yet.''

Dominic Thornely made up for his first-innings duck with an unbeaten 48. Leg-spinner Bryce McGain took 4-83 for the Bushrangers.

While the Vics will aim to finish off the NSW innings quickly, McGain said Brad Hodge, David Hussey and Rob Quiney, the star of last Wednesday's one-day win, were the sort of batsmen who could worry NSW.

"They've (the Blues) been nailed a few times recently and I'm sure they're sitting there going 'What do we set them?''' he said.

"We've chased down 400, we've chased down 350, so it's a nervous night for them I would have thought if they're setting a target.

"We're out to bowl them out so it's all in our hands and in our control.''
