The refs

I still can't get over how the refs managed to miss a strip by Anthony Tupou on Aaron Heremaia last night (calling it a "loose carry" and knock on by Heremaia as opposed to a knock on by Tupou). It was a deliberate one on one strip and Tupou wasn't even trying to hide it. The fact that the refs and touchies could all miss that is just bizarre, like WWE refereeing.

the refs were atrocious but as soon as manly started haemorraging points they lost any right to win it.

So if a team starts playing poorly it does not matter if poor ref decisions cost them the game. Geez, I am sure you would not be singing this tune if it was your team.

The refereeing in the first 2 rounds has been disgraceful. It just goes from bad to worse. They have turned the game into a game of touch footy where the refs whistle determines the momentum of the game.

I have never seen so many penalties blown up for minor infringements in the ruck area.

They get more than 50% of the forward pass calls wrong.

I might as well start watching rugby yawnion because there will be less stoppages in the game soon.

Spot on Fibro.

More refs, more technology and more and more f**king errors.

How does that work?

Oh......that's right, the "untouchable" Robert Finch is in charge.

I thought the refereeing was at it's lowest ebb on Friday night but this Manly/Parra game and THAT pass..........f**k me f**kin' dead.

The refs suck and they are actually getting worse. I have not watched a game so far this year that didn't leave me shaking my head but that forward pass today was an absolute howler.

Why was Rose sin binned and Poore wasnt for the exact same tackle?

Gee I dunno, maybe because Rose's shot came after about 3 or 4 other high shots in the same game? He was binned for repeated infringements, not the shot itself.

OK,

just saw that pass on FSN. :o:lol::oops:

he threw it forward, it didn't go with momentum. That's a shocking call.

ffs, it wasn't like all the calls went against Manly, or that the forward pass even put us in front. Manly dropped their bundle big time.

What a ridiculous thing to say... if that try wasn't scored, Manly would have still been up 20-12 and had the ball with about 6 mins to go. Even if it didn't give the eels the lead it put them in a position to win the game that they had no business being in.

And of course, from a simple mathematical perspective, if you take away that 6 points, manly win 20 - 18.

Yes Manly dropped their bundle but it does not excuse the fact that with 4 minutes left or whatever it was you scored from a forward pass, it was not even boarderline forward, it was gridiron forward. Are you saying it is ok for a team to lose to a poor reffing decision if they dropped their bundle? A few parra fans seem hell bent on justifying their win, it is like they made the dodgy call not the ref and must justify their decision. You got the 2 points thats all that matters, but trying to justify that call by saying we fell apart so did not deserve the win is stupid. Do not forget you played terrible for 50 minutes, based on your logic that could mean you did not deserve to win.

haven't read any posts because i have my own opinion.

i was listening to abc grandstand yesterday and they were fobbing every single caller after the eels/manly game that wanted to complain about the refs.

they said that refs are humans and that they make mistakes too.

well i say bullshiit.

they get paid to do there job.

if they can't do it, then find someone who can and f**k the current one off.

And there's the problem. As I said in the last thread on refs, I'd love to know where this superior standard of referee that we're judging the current crop against is hiding. Can someone please point me to the competition they're working in and tell me why they're not running around in the NRL or ESL?

Leigh.

terrible call but deal with it..we played against you guys last year and lyon got 2 shocking tries that both should've been disallowed..i remember he tried to ground it with his chest and it hit his chest then the ground, and then landed on it after with his chest and it was called a try..and then i remember him batting the ball above the fullbacks head to score as well. 2 shocking calls that both should've been disallowed and we were in the same position you guys were last night

terrible refereeing but you win some and lose some i guess. I'd be furious if that forward pass was against my team

the 4 on field match officials should all be shot

It's not ridiculous at all. The way you opened up like Sydney heads, we may well have still scored 2 more tries even if that had been called forward. I reiterate, Manly had plenty of favourable calls in the first half.

I didn't say it excused it, but it seems many are trying to put Manly's loss down to that one decision when Manly falling apart was a damn big factor too, not forgetting all the favourable calls Manly got in the first half.

And Manly may well have run the length of the field to score in the next set with the ball. What is for sure is that the score still would have been 20 - 12, Manly in possession and only a few minutes left on the clock.
