The Road to the Finals

So the big question is, just like last year.. what the hell happened that turned our season to mud so suddenly? McFadden or Tomkins had nothing to do with that.

I really think it has a lot to do with Origin

Start of the season, teams are at full strength with little disruption, and the Warriors generally get off to a slow start

Mid season the rep cycle starts to kick in, with the Warriors pretty much uneffected by this period, they strike a few teams down on troops and start to put a nice run togehter and people get excited

End of the season post origin sees a lot of the sides back into a normal routine with less disruption with star players and the Warriors slide out the back door again

Has happened too many times for it to be a coincedence

seems a reasonable hypothesis to me

Useless Panthers not doing us any favours either. This will make this the round from hell - every single result has gone against us.

The funny thing is, there wasn't much between having a very good season and the average season this is turning out to be.

If we put away Cronulla like we should have & beaten Newcastle like we should have, then we would have been banging on the doors of the top 4 with plenty of momentum and confidence. They are not good sides, if we carried to form we had we would have easily won.

The Roosters game then would have been the real litmus test, not saying we would have won but we certainly would have played a lot better than that pathetic effort. Lets not forget we were basically full strength on paper.

So the big question is, just like last year.. what the hell happened that turned our season to mud so suddenly? McFadden or Tomkins had nothing to do with that.

Wasn't blaming those two, just reiterating they have madw no difference whatsoever, despite some silly talk about the place...

Definitely makes sense and is part of the problem, but there is also a distinct change in the Warriors as well. We play distinctively worse at the backend of a season and I can't figure out why

This year they certainly haven't.
Might in upcoming seasons hopefully.

Yep, while the good teams have risen, we are now playing like Canberra, two shifts, good teams up, us down

More interesting for us is that the Dragons will be playing on Friday feeling they can still make the eight if they beat Brisbane, who are away to the Storm the following week.

Eels with two away games against awkward opponents, with talent, that are playing for pride, with no signs of throwing in the towel.

If the Warriors blow it against the Titans then it really would be unforgivable.

We need a whopping win. Maybe we should have been sponsored by Burger King.

The 2 non-Warriors games that will decide if we have a chance as Eels vs Knights this weekend and Storm vs Broncos the next. Really we need both of those to go our way. Storm have the home ground advantage and probably have a shot at the top 4, so will be fired up and should win. So really it comes down to the Knights doing us a favour this weekend.

Completely unacceptable for us to lose to the Titans. Can't describe how angry I will be if the Knights win and then we blow it against the lowly Titans.

Don't think Knights will beat Eels. Knights have lost two of their best forwards to the ASADA thing, plus Mullen is under another injury cloud.

I think the only way the Eels fall over is if they lose Hayne - he is really that good... and with him, they are pretty dangerous

It's possible the Dogs, Eels, Storm lose and either Dragons or Broncos will as well, a win by the Warriors could see us as high as 7th

Don't get crazy now Diesel. All we really need to happen is the Eels to lose to the Knights and we should be able to take care of the rest (in theory). Bulldogs did the right thing by losing, which means we will still be alive going into next week so long as we win on Sunday.

What about Sharks getting up against Cowboys? :)
Knights victory is key (to things out of our control)and have a good recent record vs Eels.
Dragons win with their negative point diff is more favorable for us than a Broncos win.

Will you guys still be around next year if the Broncos, Eels AND Warriors lose this weekend?
