The root cause

Im fine with the loss.
I question if any Shark supporter - who knows football and has watched us the last season - went into today's game confident we would win.

Im fine with the loss because it puts a fullstop on our season. Well make the finals but we'll go out first game.
We are weak. Mentally more than physically.
The coach talks tough but he is scared. He knows what he has put together doesn't work.
He knows its going backwards from when he adopted it 4 years ago.
But he picks his team every Tuesday and hopes and hopes he can do the same thing again and again and get a different result.
Because he has no answers.
And no balls to make tough calls.

Im fine with the loss because if we scraped in today the same bumbling fools get selected next week.
Fitz probably picks them anyway and im fine if they get beat. Again
In fact the teams at the point where losing and missing the finals might be the only thing that saves us from this collection of weak heartless blokes running around in our great jumper.

The halfback.
Can't say much I haven't already said.
One of the last PMs I had with Frenz was about him and Frenz said he couldn't stand watching him. He took the words out of my mouth.

I watch us every week. Always have.
But watching this soft, scared, clueless bloke given the keys to our team every week makes me furious.
Bellamy knew exactly where and how to use him.

At the helm of our team we have a very good assistant coach who follows the bosses instructions well but now finds himself out of his depth. He has hitched his wagon to a bloke who is even more out his depth. And to compound his error he has paid him a fortune.

Forget this season.
It's done.

But moving forward we need a Neil Henry or a Holbrook or a demetriou. Basically a first grade coach to come in and take Price's job.
Because Fitz needs someone who knows what they're doing moving forward or we will be out of the 7 next year.

Hynes has to he shopped.
Or put on the wing.
We need a 1.
We need ramien gone.

That's just the start

Thats a fair assessment, even three times over!! haha
I will add Rudolf in there too, if you don't mind.
Let him go to Perth, the other side of Earth*

Was that 6am Eastern Standard time?
I concur but Hynes is an easy scapegoat. The fraud that is Trindell can be overstated.
Lose the wig, it might help.

Yeah I think we need a Dr. Frankenstein to combine the two to make one, and then, only then, will we have a genuine competitor

It was WAWA time at a place called The Loft, circa 1993.
Knighty and I often reminisce about it....
or not lol

The 2nd half started and then caller crossed to "what was said in the sheds at halftime?"

"Fitz wants more intensity and better line speed."

I'd be happy if we did those things every week. Not just the 2nd half.

No surprise - they didn't do it.

You shouldn't have to tell them to be intense.
This is their job.
This is all they do each week.
They didn't know this was the top 4 on the line?
That should be pretty intense.
You go to work and the most important thing for the whole year is on the line - you'd imagine everyone at work is fairly intense about it and theres a lot of talking about it.

But the coach has to remind them at halftime??
"Guys we need to step it up. This is serious. We need to try harder blah blah blah. We need to get up in their faces. Bash the farkers. Show them we're the top 4 side not them!"

These instructions were followed by an inept, rudderless, bumbling, surrendering embarrassment. The longer it went the worse it got.

We have no leaders.
From the coach down.

A lack of class in most positions
This is true. Iro, AFB, Brailey. Maybe Sifa.
I'm a fan of McInnes in terms of effort, but this needs to be his last year. If Puru is a ball playing back row or lock, I'd have. Him in the team. We need something other than fanny fart high kicks and one out hit ups.

The attacking problem comes from the fullback.
I don’t think there is a less threatening fullback in the comp.
Every set starts off with a jog and dominated tackle.
No support play through the middle, lack of speed, size, elusiveness, ball playing.

As bad as Hynes and Trindal are and they are bad, I feel a bit sorry for them, we don’t have anyone threatening around them.
Our centers, edge forwards and McAverage offer nothing.

As far as line breaks go the fullback is one of the few that makes them, it's after the break the issues appear.

Demetriou or Holbrook are really good shouts - I would like to see what they can do with this current group.

All of our squad including those named have at one point played top class Rugby League which is the problem - they haven’t put it together in an 80 minute performance and then week to week.

Of course FItzy is safe, I would also extend that same level of comfort culture to our CEO and Board.

Comfort culture.... I believe you have found the root cause, sir.

Stability has turned to comfort which is turning to rust. These passive, bland performances rolling through the motions with just enough to beat the mediocre teams, sometimes. When was the last time this team went after an opponent and physically dominated? When was their intensity clearly superior?

This is nice, Shire boys FC. Where everyone loves everyone. Always caring and supportive.

you’re right. The closest I saw of us going after a team in a long time was the Melbourne game. You could tell they were up for that and played really physical. Outside of that, as soon as a team steps up, we back down. Wasn’t our song all about “we won’t back down?” Couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Funny that.

Cleary gets called out for taking dives the week after their trainer gets suspended for an act of gamesmanship/innocent mistake that kept them in a game they were going to lose.

Easts bullied the Dolphins in a must win game.
