Sorry, didn’t see it - remind me, how many years at what salary would a good recruitment manager have signed Packer?
I wouldn’t be asking Millward that question.

I’m asking you that question. Do you have a specific opinion?I wouldn’t be asking Millward that question.
Are you saying that Packer is playing better than graham this year? Any tangible evidence, or just the vibe? This year.
In addition to advancing years, doesn’t Graham also have a degenerative back ailment which needs constant monitoring,
I’m concerned he may not see out his contract.
Mounties player close to signing with dragons he is a fijian back .
I’m asking you that question. Do you have a specific opinion?
Say we matched tigers 4 years at 600kGiven his age (28), it’s fair to say Packer has (injuries permitting) up to another six-years in the NRL.
As to what a “good recruitment officer” would be willing to pay, I guess that would be predicated by the needs (and desperation) of the club he’s representing.
Not to mention whether the club is in a ‘premiership window’.
All these factors need to be counterbalanced by luring a much older player who seems to be playing while injured, not to mention at the twilight of his career.
Are the issues relating to the players commensurate with one another? Probably not. That’s why I would’ve favoured Packer’s retention even if it cost a few more dollars.
I get it now. You're an accountant. Any chance you can dodgey up the books and get us some value for money? Small wish Damo.Say we matched tigers 4 years at 600k
Most reports have us paying around 200k for graham this year and 600 next.
For two years that’s 800 for graham and 1200 for Packer. So 50% more for Packer.
All the evidence says that graham this year is contributing 20-25% more on the field than Packer this year or indeed any year since he came back into the nrl (not even counting intangibles like leadership, off field influence on training etc) so to even things up over two years Packer would need to double his impact next year. I honestly don’t see that happening.
Then there’s the opportunity cost of having 600k a year for two more years tied up in a prop who generally plays under 50 minutes a game. Who knows who’d we’d miss out on in 2020 because of that.

But I do work with budgets and getting the most of out of set funds.
I’m not bad at creative use either - reckon I could find a few corners to cut, some technically legal but dubious tactics...
No, my deviousness falls a long way short of Don Nick. For a moment there, Damo ............. I thought you might be Nick Politis in incognito but when you mentioned, "legally cut corners," I discounted that thought.
I would’ve thought my question indicates which way I would’ve gone,
Yes, Graham’s leadership skills cannot be faulted, but at the end of the day he’s still 32 with diminishing impact.
At 28, Packer is the younger man with many years left.
Graham is a good SHORT TERM solution only.
And as you said, “this year (only)”.
Interestingly, last night during the sharks game the commentators were speculating about where Dugan will fit into the team when he returns. Both of their centers are killing it, and Holmes is finally finding his feet at fullback. Thy were saying he may have to come back on the wing.Fair enough - that’s your opinion and mine is different as I feel Graham’s deal has worked out better for us.. giving us more flexibility in future too.
I was looking through I’m not sure what your original question was that I had to answer - but overall I feel Millward is doing a good job.
The only ‘superstar’ we lost was Dugan, who went to the Sharks because he wanted to play FB. But he has been out injured majority of the season and looks like he will come back as a centre. Dufty I believe is s better long term option. He has retained a bunch of juniors while picking up guys like Hunt, Vaughan, Sims.

Well if that's the case, both young centres going well, Dugan on a 4 year deal to come back, what the hell are they doing signing JMoz?Interestingly, last night during the sharks game the commentators were speculating about where Dugan will fit into the team when he returns. At least one but if their centers has signed with the knights. Not sure about the other.Well if that's the case, both young centres going well, Dugan on a 4 year deal to come back, what the hell are they doing signing JMoz?
I think I heard Brown talking about that, Reiman isn't it?At least one but if their centers has signed with the knights. Not sure about the other.
