I have forgotten why did we get rid of him when he was under our wing?As suspected, there was a story yesterday about how multiple Sydney clubs are going to try and move their cap around to put a strong offer to AFB next year. Basically confirms we won't get him now, we can't compete if other clubs can put forward similar offers.
Could mean other players are looking for a new home as a result? As suspected, there was a story yesterday about how multiple Sydney clubs are going to try and move their cap around to put a strong offer to AFB next year. 12 month suspended sentence for domestic violence. I don't think he could even get registered with the NRL until round 7 the following year as a result.I have forgotten why did we get rid of him when he was under our wing?
Just goes to show the double standards in the NRL. An offender gets picked up by a rival club and vice versa. Why not just hold and help rehabilitate. Now I know some will say we don’t tolerate dom violence yet we have taken offenders on board before.12 month suspended sentence for domestic violence. So true Rocket, always seems to be the club holding the registration that gets the raw end of the deal, while a bunch of other clubs line up like vultures to sign him as soon as they're allowed to. Complete hypocrisy.Just goes to show the double standards in the NRL. An offender gets picked up by a rival club and vice versa. Why not just hold and help rehabilitate. And now we have the club wanting to pay a squillian to get him back. He must’ve shown potential to have warranted his retention. Our past coaches wouldn’t have known potential if it bit them on the arse! Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
According to Brent Read, Edwin Ipape is strongly linked to the Dragons. Not able to officially make it confirmed like others until 10 days has passed. Next Friday could be the day for this and maybe some other - my guess only gents and Nana Dragon.
It's anyone's guess TheRev. AFB would have been a good pick up and could still be if things can go our way - not likely though as those blasted top clubs and the Bulldogs/Tigers are always prowling around and being vultures ready to pounce.Man this AFB thing is a kick in the pants.. we could have bradbury'd into his signature as the only club with heaps of free cash... and it would have pushed the rebuild ship away from the dock with a full head of steam..
Trying to think who else we might go after.. I wonder if Flanno is still holding out a chance that he can turn Hunt around for 2025.. cause right now he would be quite happy with Hunt/KFlan as his halves combo.. but if he goes after (and gets) a Dearden or Luai.. it sort of kickstarts a different chain of events.
In ordinary circs I would have had no problem with his contract being terminated. However, AFB was just 19 years of age at the time of his offence and was being used as a punching bag by his violent alcoholic father. As far as I know he was successfully rehabilitated and is still with the same partner eight years later. We acted in haste and now are repenting at leisure.Just goes to show the double standards in the NRL. An offender gets picked up by a rival club and vice versa. I don't think he would have become the same top level player under Mary, but it's all subjective in a way. I doubt that Mary would have put him in first grade and then he would have gone elsewhere in any case, maybe?Would he have become the same (top level) player if he stayed with us and our inept coaching anyway?
Let’s just hope we go hard to get him back - it was nothing to do with Flanno anyway.
your absolutely right it's all up to him next season, he just has to learn to take a hit and give a hit.I get a good feeling that Sloan will be hungry to prove himself next season
Yep in other words TOUGHEN UP ............your absolutely right it's all up to him next season, he just has to learn to take a hit and give a hit.
