I still think that the cowboys are desperate to offload so they can re-sign other forwards to bigger deals, and stop them being poached. That means they could be interested in paying some of his contract out. If he's on $750k and they pay $250k that still frees up $500k for them to put towards retaining other players. They could well get desperate so no need for us to rush this one. For once we're in the box seat.

Was he? I recall he teamed up with Canterbury supporter Matto for a short while to promote Jubilee Avenue on WORL, but Glenn always wore red and white. Still see him at games occasionally.
Yeah, I’m thinking he is a Saints man

You forget Flanno is a tight fisted hard arse. No way in hell he will pay that money. I bumped into Gallen last year when hunt wanted out to the coast presumably and asked him if Flanno would consider letting him go. He replied yeh he would if the coast gave Tino and Fifita in exchange. He said mate you don’t know Flanno. He’s a winner and won’t lose out in any player swap

Heard a rumour Russell got the tap also, which I mentioned a few days ago seems inevitable, cause hes not playing nsw cup in front a number of Eisenhuth, Egan and several other prospects..

His extension came at a much darker time before we knew we would sign 3 other 2nd rowers...

LL is not marquee. I have my categories;

marquee
Sub marquee
Above factory
Factory
Under factory
Fringe

and I’ve got LL at above factory but under sub marquee.

in the range at $500-$650 I’d think, with a compelling argument needed for 700+
or other fancy arrangement, target or residual benefit.
I hear ya, but our expectations are a little lower at this stage! We will renovate our factory in years to come :p

He’s number 28 in the shield side or something.

I gagged when I saw the side because too many top flite, then I came to my senses and realised Flanno is on the lend.

That said, the unwritten law of the shield prevails. Get busy, dig in but no one gets hurt.

I’d like to see these games used for new rules and new gear to protect our players.

If there is equipment that might help avoid an acl, it could be trialed. Helmets are controversial but maybe they help somehow.

I think Flanno has named almost the whole squad lol.

If you don’t make the shield, time to ring your agent.

lol. That's cool. You had me worried there for a sec. Yeah, Glenn bleeds red and white.
Flanno won't pay 900k for luc, he's not stupid. He's back as a coach after his suspension, he wouldn't be that stupid to risk his own neck for someone wanting more than they are worth. I reckon it's the player's manager pushing for more so he gets more. Let's wait and see what Flanno has to say when it's all finished, I'd say luc for 3yrs on 700k, a 4th year option based on performance over the first 3yrs

We couldn't have kept this one quiet... the 2024 season is about to kick-off, and Luciano is in-contract for 2 years still, so tbh we werent allowed to be talking to him until he got a release.. so we could be in the wrong there.. but I reckon its come about after Luciano didnt secure a 1st grade spot.. so maybe we are in the clear.. we may not even sign him yet ofcourse!

But I dont think any parties will be unhappy.. given 2 homegrown kids like Nanai and Luki that are rep quality.. and 1 more behind who looks even better... this seems sort of a win for all parties..
If Flanno wants Leilua and thinks he can get the best out of him, then so be it.

2 years with a mutual or club option for a third. Luc is in no position of any leverage. Has consistently shown he lacks commitment and in very very recent times has been involved in multiple off field incidents. In what world does he seriously believe he should get 4 years at 900k? The club is taking a punt by signing him at all. I'd be laying these facts in front of him and saying if you show us you're hungry and perform on the field, we'll take up that third year. If not, and you're performing to the level you can, you will have no trouble getting a high paying deal elsewhere.

The Dragons have been burnt so many times in our dark days by the stupidity of the seemingly automatic three year deal on overs money. No more. Luc if you want to come back to Sydney, take the deal or leave it.

It is reported here that LL is after $900,000 per season and for 4 years = $3.6M.

He can go and get truly effed if he thinks he can get anywhere near this figure. Is he for real? Have we shown our cards which says that we are suckers? I really hope not.

I'm just reading all this about Luc now, what a joke. I like him, he can be a beast but his last 3 years have been poor - off the field and in terms of the Cowboys (and Wests 2022) getting their money's worth with him averaging just 12 games a year. I'd be happy for Flanno to give Luki or Hess a call and tell them 4 years at $750-800K a year if you ask for a release now, see what happens. Luc needs a reality check.
This is one fish I won't mind being one that got away, not for what he's asking.

00Dont know why everyone is so opposed/surprised by the 4 year deal. The board has put us in such a lousy position we need to entice players to come here if a 4 year deal instead of 3 year deal is what gets it over the line then make happen. I suggest we get used to paying overs for players for a while until we improve greatly on the field.
900k is more than overs !

He's manager knows we are desperate and will probably fork out the $$$ struggling clubs spend overs and offer long term contracts to players all the time. Roy Asotasi to South's, Luai to West's, Ben Hunt to St. George, Kaylan Ponga to Newcastle.

I personally think $900K is way to much but again with predicament we are in things like this have to be done until players want to come to our club for more than just a big pay cheque. We are going through yet another rebuild.

We’ve never been out of a rebuild either.

I was thinking it might be better to give Flanno an extra year or 2 now, orherwise he might be tempted to break the bank as he needs to show something pretty quickly.

A couple of extra years he gets a bit of space to plan properly.

Remember the average player he’s only playing 2 seasons worth in the nrl these days.

I hope you are wrong as 700 is overpaying for a player who does one part of the game well for half the time
I hope it is a smokescreen as we whisk away Luke or Fine from right under their feet
Luc is 27 and has not achieved that much to be talked about so highly
I honestly thought he would not fit Flannos culture based on his spiel
Maybe I am wrong but if we pay more than Sua etc for him we are crazy
