Unfortunately all the old bulletin board and email group stuff from the 1990s is gone. Things like the St George E-Group (which Yahoo only closed in 2022) and the original Jubilee Avenue stuff (started by Glenn Baker).
They were the days, Glenn used to hang out on the hill with us.

3 years with optional 4 is good. A bit risky but under Flanno I think he will come good. Lets face it, Luc has a history of off field drama's so if he does act up Saints can release him. They really should emphasis this in their contract.

If Luc does come good, he will be a add so much to attack as he is the type of player Saints need and that is a guy that can create second phase play. I can see Sloan running off his offloads into space. Flanno will get the best out of him. I look at Flanno's history at the Sharks and his specialty is getting guys like Luc to play their best. As for the youngsters being blocked, JDB, BMM, Bird there are a few that are older than Luc and will possibly be gone before him.

Luch is currently on a 2 year contractr. I don't know why people are saying max 2 years etc, we have to take that contract & then can re-negotiate the price and/or additional years. Read somewhere he was asking 900k/4yrs lmao. He's on rumoured 700k currently, I would just offer an additional year at the same price. We have to pay overs to entice players to play with us but we don't need to be stupid & pay ridiculous money.

If luch is desperate for an immediate return to Sydney (rumoured) then he doesn't have many options apart from us who can afford his current contract or be willing to take on the additional years. I think it might be the dogs as the other option for him.

700k/yr for 3 years keeps everyone happy. Luch can return to Syd immediately plus get the security of an extra year. We're not hampered by a long term contract considering it will start from this year. It'll give us time to transition our younger forwards at a reasonable pace. If Flanagan can get Luch to play to his potential on a consistent basis then we've arguably got a rep level player at a good price.

Just to add to this, I would play hardball with the cowboys and get them to chip in for his contract. They're in the position of needing to off-load him to keep other players. We're not in a desperate position to get him. He would be a good addition but it's not like he's critical for us. I think dragons should push Cowboys to chip in 200k/yr for the remainder of his contract. That would mean roughly 500k that we would pay from our salary cap, assuming he's on 700k. I think that would be the idea outcome for us.

Also the cowboys are definitely leaking all this to the media to fast-track Luch off their books. They're under immense salary cap pressure & need immediate relief. IF the Dragons are smart then we use it to our advantage & get Cowboys to chip in.

tbh we don't know what the real situation is.. its being assumed that Luciano is the one "asking" for a release, perhaps on compassionate grounds.. hence the 'sydney' thing... but that might not be the case at all.. it could be predominately cowboys driven.. in which case maybe they do chip in something for 2024.. not that we really need it tbh.

Do need to be a little careful in that Mario Tartak can gouge out some ridiculous deals.. Lucianos last deal was a bit batty and his Shuster one is ridiculous.. but in this case i dont think any clubs are desperate for Luciano.. different if he was a prop..

It is reported here that LL is after $900,000 per season and for 4 years = $3.6M.

He can go and get truly effed if he thinks he can get anywhere near this figure. Is he for real? Have we shown our cards which says that we are suckers? I really hope not.
Looks like LL will be in NQ for another couple of years

He's on $700k, he now wants $900k at 4 years, How about we let LL go and do nothing, I'm sure the way things are at the cowboys and with LL, someone will squirm, It would have been a good deal at $600k with the cows putting in $200k @ 3 years, now he wants his cake and all the extra trimmings, since when was the ball in his court, I'd be telling him to enjoy the sweat up there.

Exactly justa. If Flanno agrees to this ridiculous request in any shape or form other than what is best for the club and not involving paying overs for this "I want out of this club" for the third time (leaving us to go to the Tigers, then to NQ, then us again), then Flanno will drop a hell of a way down in my appreciation of him that is for sure.

We surely cannot be that desperate are we?

They were the days, Glenn used to hang out on the hill with us, even though he was a doggies man.
Was he? I recall he teamed up with Canterbury supporter Matto for a short while to promote Jubilee Avenue on WORL, but Glenn always wore red and white. Still see him at games occasionally.

I dont think Flanno will panic on LL, we dont actually need him.. it will just strengthen our 2024 campaign.. and thats not nothing.. success breeds success..

We could even frontload the bejesus out of his contract.. we can afford 2 marquees for 2024.. even 2025 I don't mind spending a bit.. but 2026/2027.. i rly dont want him on huge dollars.
