I have to say I have been very impressed with Kyle Flano and his game management

his defence super solid
:100: One little crictique, dont dummy too often mate. May have given him a couple of tries but smart coaches will have told their defense to target him more so his dummying is no longer producing. He now needs to use it as a surprise weapon only.

We need to keep him, end of story, is good for at least two more years imho, the two he had taken away from him. I'd not be saying this if he was playing crap, but he has been in arguably career best form this season, specially since coming off the bench and playing 60 mins.
JDB has been huge for us, and we will struggle to get someone better...I reckon he probably has a 1yr offer @450k on the table and is expecting 750k.. but noone has confirmed whether that is the case.. it could also be that Flanno wants to see him hungry and see what he can do... or there could be other factors also influencing the decision..

It could also be that JDBs spot is the spot left for the big dawg prop that Flanno is hunting for.. but whether he can land one is a whole different story.

Getting rid of Lawrie is tricky because:

a) Look how hard it has been for even Gus the master salesman to find 'any' decent props to come.. the storm are after 1 too.. we would need to find a replacement prop who can 'consistently' be a better member of our prop rotation week in week out... that could be >2yrs away for our young ones.

b) We have to actually offload him.. he has 2.5yrs to run.. so you could also argue about playing him also puts him in the shop window..

We also have no proof that Flanno is actively trying to offload Lawrie (though im sure he is open to it).. but Lawrie is passable most weeks... i.e. he's not preventing us from winning games.

We already have one of them. Flanagan wont be happy until he has driven out Lomax, Lawrie and JDB.
What does this post mean? You're talking like he has some kind of agenda?

On JDB, he hasn't been a ball-playing lock for a hell of a long time. He's 33 and his contract will be managed year by year from now on at whatever money Flanagan thinks he's worth. It'll be a take it or leave it deal as it should be. He's a solid defender and when he comes off the bench to play middle he can have some impact and an occasional offload. He's a keeper for me but at the right money. He's ahead of the likes of Michael Molo, Tuitavake, and Fifita, but behind Francis Molo and Hame Sele. Lawrie and JDB as well as the 2 ex-Manly boys have it all to prove still in my opinion.

If we were the Broncos or the Sharks or something.. of course we would offload JDB and get someone younger and faster... but there is noone left on the market to chase, it would have to be someone we could agitate out of their contract.. and they would have to actually want to come here instead of the Dogs and co..

I think Flanno is trying to keep his options open (and find a recruitment manager).. but JDB is not far behind Frank/Sele.. those are our big 3.. and a drop off to lawrie and a another big drop off again till MMolo and the rest..

With the younger ones, I think Toby is well in front of Fifita and possibly even MMolo, but none of them are in the league of JDB.. who is coming on and turning the tide from the bench.

Breaking News: Dale Finucane to retire from playing league immediately for medical reasons. This will free up plenty of bucks for the Sharks to upgrade players and sign others.

But with respect to Finucane, all the best in your retirement and hopefully you can enjoy life knowing that your health is more important for you and your family. Credit to all your services for the Storm and the Sharks.

Forgot he was under contract. IF a team wanted him then I'd release him (bulldogs are desperate). Imo his ceiling is an impact bench prop. Not good enough for a top 17 spot in a good side but a good depth player.

I think Toby Couchman could do a better job than him imo.
