Widdop is going, who cares, accept it, quit rejecting what is happening.
And the good thing is I don’t care, onwards and upwards now.
Hopefully it will inspire him to having a good season and close out vital games for once!
Though I think he will leave that to others better equipt, being Norman and Hunt.
Over to you Mr Widdop
I personally am happy that Widdop is leaving us in 2020.
He is a great player on his day but isn't a captain. Mary has made many mistakes but making Widdop captain was one of his biggest.
I have heard that many of the dragons "old boys" have never liked the fact that Widdop was made captain and have been embarrassed at how he has handled himself (as captain) at times.
Time to put a leader of men in as captain. And do it this season, make the announcement next month.

Fair enough re captain, but at the time he was given it after Ben Creagh, who was a better choice..Flo would have been the only one that come to mind but he was never going to play much longer.
Frizzell back then no...because he is too quiet on the field for captain as well and still is. Not an easy choice back then. Now......for me hands down biggest voice in the pack combined with rewarding a local would be Tariq. Graham does not want it and maybe retiring before taking his option for a further year.

I Think Graham's time is up after this year as losing his impact on field as a metre eater. Less minutes would suit him and the team going forward although his presence, off the ball efforts and voice around the boys would still be an inspiration.

I have a feeling he'll opt for co-captains, Friz and McInnes.
McInnes has catained at NYC level. Big jump i know, but!

I really dont like this co captains stuff.
Give it to a team leader and be done with it.
I don't think McInnes has done enough to have it.
Hes a good player but not a great player and we'd lose Robson if we did.
Probably best to have our most consistent forward who can command respect as well as not losing it when it matters most.

Well why would you pick Frizz in place of McGuinness
I’m not saying I would I just remember they shared the captaincy last year when Widdop was out . So I’m wondering why it’s automatically assumed McGuinness will be chosen ? I like them both .

But if you want to know who I would choose as captain the answer is Tariq Sims. Wait he lost it momentarily at Origin. I do still like him he seems to be a natural leader and at signings he tends to take charge well. Shame he lost his cool that time though as a leader shouldn't really do that .

Mcginness and Frizz are also great and would have been chosen to co captain for a reason. What that reason is I don't know as I don't coach them day in day out.

I love Graham but feel he may just be an unofficial leader and he might be on his way out and not want the job.

The ideal is we keep Widdop for a few more years. The difference last year when he wasn't playing was huge.

Tariq Simms seems to be the best fit. I agree that Tyson does not seem to be Captains material only due to his quiet persona.
I also agree Debelin blew his chance due to being stupid.

I like the fact that Frizzell is not over the top but can still command respect from our players.
You only have to look at how he lifts them when he starts charging the line and making a 'break'.

To me, a good captain knows when to speak up or not when things get heated.
I'd like to think Frizz would up the ante if he was made captain.

I'd pick him over Simms at this point of time.
I'd make Graham club captain, which would fit in with his playing status and timeline.
He's not going to be there all the time but he'd be around the club as a whole, guiding the juniors etc.
I'd even keep him once he retired.

Just my two bobs worth.
