Heard this one on 2MMM on The Rush Hour, but they had a rumour doing the rounds that Phil Gould is in talks to take up a job with the St-George-Illawarra Dragons. The person who reported it known as The Winemaker (who is a new contributor to the show) who said this is likely to happen before the end of the year.

I hope you are he is correct because we need a hard nosed person capable of cleaning out the whole joint

Gareth you would have more chance if you wore a Steelers jersey that's how you get on in this organisation

Thanks for the tip Sammy , but I don’t possess one so I think I will shave my last remaining hairs ( approx. a dozen ) and wear a suit and tell them I am Mary’s long lost brother , that should at the very least guarantee me a position as an assistant coach ?

First post long time lurker Mr Gould was at my local pub last Saturday night not Penrith or dragons territory asked him if he would help us out as I was wearing my dragons jersey he laughed and gave a strange smile but his mate he was with head almost fell off and went red in the face. At the time I thought it was a strange reaction but now hearing these rumours makes me start to like something is happening.

I would love Gus. One of the best footy minds in the game, he gets shit for his off topic commentary but his reading of the game is second to none

One more thing about Gus is he is an absolutely fantastic bloke. Have not personally met him, but know many who have, and I hear nothing but praise for how he speaks to people. Always loves to chat to fans, and he even asks questions to people rather than trying to end the conversation, he really loves the game.

Where abouts in the pub were you when you asked him to “help us out”?

Could explain the reaction..

Correct, Gus will always give you his time in a conversation, even me.
A mate of mine some six weeks ago was one in front of Gus in a ATM queue at Carringbah was said please tell me you are going to join Saints, Gus smiled and ask him how long have you been following the Dragons.
Ron being now mid 80s said about 70 years.
I would love this to happen and I posted a few months ago it was a chance!
Now in West Wales.

If the rumours are true and they are in talks with Gus, the conversations would be more about what is ‘hands off’ to Gus.
There’s no way our mob would allow someone like him to come in and make changes to the furniture.

Unfortunately I believe you are right ALSGI , even now they would be battening down the hatches to ensure that it never eventuates .

Latrell Mitchell- way off his game, kicks out on the full, did not inject into the game until last 10 minutes. May have some other distractions outside of football.
