If the Roosters are hoping to keep Savala long term they are unlikely to release him for 2026, particularly given he hasn't signed an extension with them yet.

I guess this insane speculation is what we are reduced to being starved of information and desperate for any news on new signings.
If the Roosters don't want to release him and don't require him for first-grade duties in 2026, maybe a loan deal can be arranged.

We don’t seem to be good at that.

I mean we were trying to negotiate a swap Ilias for Sami. Illias and Lui have gone but we got nothing. No Sami, No Nuthin’.

How do u mean ?

that no other club would have enquired given DCE arriving at the Roosters ?

ie DCE plays in NSW Cup ? And Savala stays in the first 17 ?

It isn't just DCE that will block Savala. They have Rodwell and a couple of other young halves who are highly valued at the Roosters. Savala would be best advised to get himself to a club like the Dragons, where an NRL starting halfback role is more realistic
I actually think this is the 'read between the lines' narrative going on, although the roosters would love to keep Hugo around on the cheap for depth behind Walker/DCE.. perhaps for 1 or 2 yrs.. Hugo is not in their longterm plans...

Ruthless to be sure.. but maybe we can benefit.. im glad hes out there looking at options (or atleast that what he says hes doing).

IMO, the very earliest we will hear of any external signings would be Friday 14th but more likely from Monday 17th onwards, unless they are currently off contract for this year, ie: let go by their former clubs.

eg: GCKT was released by Manly in September. the fact it's taken 2 mths for a free agent to get signed doesn't thrill me at all. good luck to him at the Kennel.

Boyd has some pressure related issues, for whatever reason he panics in 1st grade. Hard to overcome imo.
Maybe in the past- but people grow and change and experience in a pressure position like no 7 is invaluable- what greater pressure is there in playing in a grand final and then the week after in a State challenge when he was imo man of the match on both occasions? He's worth a go at the very least.

PS- I would normally take Nathan Cleary if he was available in a heartbeat- but for mine , he was invisible and disappointing in the three test series against the poms. Apart from kicking on tackle 6, you would hardly have known he was on the field. He's a class act and will bounce back but all I'm saying is that even the very best find it hard to sustain a high level in a demanding position like No 7.

It really is pretty much a fantasy at the moment.
Plenty of forum posters saying who the Dragons should be chasing without knowing if we are actually talking to them.
Anderson and Flanagan playing their cards very close to the chest.
I haven't seen any reports so far saying we are talking to either Savala or Koloamatangi.
Well, the way I look at it is that this is a unique and complicated moment in time for a lot of players and their agents- the prospect of not just one but two teams coming into the competition in the next two to three years means that probably there are going to be multiple deals- short and long-term, being hatched, tax incentives to be considered in PNG etc. If I'm a player, I' d be wanting my agent to take it slowly and get it right.
