Aaron Woods has become a victim of media (both print and social) narratives taking hold of a player's ability in the eyes of the public.

Because he was selected for representative duties rather early, during a particularly dire time for NSW, as well as the unfortunate "big four" tag the media attached to his Tigers group, the public has been mighty unfair on Woods. He is not Taumalolo, but he has been far more solid for the Sharks than he gets any credit for. In particular his ability to get a quick PTB away absolutely towers over much of our team, who often rely on wingers or backs to get one away.

For Woods, he's just a shit plodder and that's the narrative around him no matter how his form actually is. He's not going to be a big money player anymore so the level of vitriol directed at the mere idea of pursuing him is unfounded imo
He's a rock solid underachiever and is so much in the mould of the type of player we attract it is scary.

We need a player who rips a game apart on his own and is seen as a threat both in attacking defence not another plodder of which we have several to get rid of anyway.

HUNT EYES 300TH IN THE RED V DESPITE BRONCOS LINKS
On the eve of Ben Hunt's 250th NRL game, bombshell reports have linked the rep star with a return home to Brisbane.

The Daily Telegraph reports the Dragons and Broncos are considering brokering a deal that would see the two clubs split Hunt's huge $1 million salary to facilitate his move to Brisbane and cut his stay with the Red V by two years.

Hunt says he hasn't thought once about leaving St. George Illawarra and his sights are set on notching up his 300th in Dragons colours.

"That's the goal," said of his desire to see out his Dragons deal and reach the 300-game milestone.

"There's no thoughts going on that I want to leave and go anywhere else at the moment. I'm just looking forward to getting a new coach and getting stuck in next year.

"I think it's going to be a great change for the club and a big freshen up.

"I think in the off-season everyone will come back pretty eager to go and impress whoever's coaching so there's nothing from me [to suggest] that I want to leave."

Anthony Griffin is set to dangle match-winning pivot James Maloney as a 'carrot' to the Dragons in his bid to get the coaching job at the club next year.

With the Dragons looking to offload million-dollar halfback Ben Hunt at the end of the season, the club will be in the market for a playmaker.

Maloney, currently in the first year of a three-year contract with French club Catalans, is enjoying life in Europe.

But the global pandemic has put the future of Super League in considerable doubt, with players destined to be handed pay cuts and some clubs likely to fold.

Griffin and Maloney worked well together at Penrith in 2018 and the much-travelled 34-year-old may consider moving back to Australia to finish his career if Catalans are in danger of collapsing.

Griffin is involved in a battle with caretaker coach Dean Young and Knights assistant coach David Furner for the Dragons job.

While Griffin has copped some criticism in recent days, being able to land the prized signature of Maloney - a renowned winner - would boost his stocks considerably.

We cannot have these two in our squad!
Merrin has been a total waste of space
Who’s Fing idea was that Mary or Millward

he was shit at Penrith , shit in ESL and we welcomed home back with a 2 year contract . I’m sure no one else would’ve had him

I actually thought Woods was OK at Tigers but shit at Dogs and don’t watch him often now but I still suspect shit

more journeymen losers coming to the end wanting dragons to pay good $

why does the club do this

this is Millward Fing up isn’t it

I’d rather have a young gun trying hard to make his mark than old losers

Would rather keep Hunt ahead of Norman.
Imo he needs a coach who’s able to create a game plan around our spine, not a bash & barge game & hope for the best.
Besides if true I believe the real reason they’d be offloading him is because there’s no chance of any other club taking Norman off our hands & Hunt is more desirable.

Agree blacksafake old (?) mate , also believe that Hunt is the better footballer of the 2 by a country mile .

The man has always needed just bit of confidence in his ability. The drop kick-off in the G.Final against the Cowboys shattered the mans confidence and I am sure that calamity must come back to haunt him .

Still under an astute coach he will once again ride the crest of success , he only needs a decent coach .

And the less said about Mr. Norman the better . A huge disappointment to the Red V army and vastly overpriced .

Old enough Gareth lol.
The daughters & work colleagues call me “old man”. I can’t say what the leader of the opposition (wife) calls me though.:joy:

I concur re Norman who I had hopes that he’d of been good for us when we signed him.
