My iPhone shows me a news limited story about Young & Ryan Webb being in opposite corners re club culture. Behind a paywall so I can’t get anything more.

Anyway, anyone have it?

Thx Dubbs

From the link...

Veteran journalist Phil Rothfield, who conducted the interview with Young, agreed, calling it “disgraceful.”

From the Dragons’ Top 30, eight players were unavailable due to World Cup duties, but that still left 19 others who could have attended.

Young told News Corp that there was “no excuse” and that the culture at the club needed improving.

“What happened a few weeks back was disappointing to say the least,” he said.

“We had eight or nine players who had World Cup commitments and their absence was understandable.

“However the other players should have been there. When I played you couldn’t wait to get there.

That should dismiss the theory some have, that the " timing " was off. 8 players had an excuse...
The place needs major surgery.

The club culture needs improving, no s***.

The club is run like a local park team not like a multimillion organisation. How can there be so much disconnect between mnmnt and the playing group. I presume Ben Haran is responsible, if so, he needs to be sacked and get someone who can fix it.

Regarding Bud, I find it hard to believe if you're the head of football how difficult it is the tell the coach play the best players in the side which Bud is and fit them into the first grade team and make it work.

Just posted from daily Telegraph

" St George Illawarra Dragon Tyrell Sloan reveals he has withdrawn request to leave NRL club" if you can access it have a read

A new signing in the forwards (albeit not an out and out star), Sloan withdrawing release request, problem child burgess being released. All positive news that should silence some of the media for a while. Incoming off season scandal.....

Finally some good news. Really pleased about Sloan staying and now all I need is for Bud to announce likewise and I'll be a happy man.
I think that with Sloan withdrawing his request to be released, Bud will do the same as they are good mates and would prefer to play in the same team together which has no doubt been their aim from when they started in the lower grades.

Seems our Chairman Craig Young has been busy supplying a character reference for Brett Finch, describing him as very caring and having leadership qualities.

I really don't know how to feel about this. Maybe Finch is a great guy and needs a friend right now, but then maybe Albert may be best served in keeping the club out of potential controversy given how poorly they have performed for more than a decade

Well I wonder how we got that culture problem? Perhaps it was because we have spent the last decade and in particular the last 2 years signing mostly journeymen from the bottom of the NRL scrap heap and playing them in first grade at the expense of our local juniors? They’ve spent the best part of a decade slowly stripping the team of any positive identity and every last piece of heart and soul. And they’re just working out there’s a culture problem? What geniuses they are. Welcome to the St.George Illawarra Plodders.

I'm sure that there are several senior players not setting good examples and in some way I think that they could be the reason why some of the younger kids have wanted out besides other issues. I mentioned before that what I heard is that Sloan and several of the other young ones prefer not go out and booze with the older guys so there are differences in that culture and a reason for not really getting on with one another I'm thinking.

Now that Craig Young has made comment on a lot of the stuff that has been going on, he will make sure that everyone pulls his weight and them to do the right thing by the club - I'm hoping anyway. Craig has got to ensure that the players are accountable to the club as much as Craig and the other Board members are accountable to the success of the club.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at the Board meeting tomorrow.
