Millward also outlined his hopes to fill the final spot in the Dragons' Top 30 roster with an outside back.

"We have been in negotiations with a winger. We're hoping to get some clarity on that in the coming weeks," Millward said.

"That's the area we have identified as needing one more player following Jonus Pearson's departure to the Gold Coast Titans. We have some great young talent below, especially in Mat and Max Feagai but that will come with time."

Anyone got anything on this?

Only one I can think of is Nene McDonald

“ Following Jonus Pearson’s departure . . “

I don’t know gents , this is like the Christmas Turkey that we couldn’t afford in the days when I was only young so the old man got one our chooks and passed it off as a turkey .

It tasted great so we believe him . :rooster:

This part of Millwards chat is the most intriguing.

"We have been in negotiations with a winger. We are hoping to get some clarity on that in the coming weeks".

Getting clarity says to me several things:
1. the player is contracted either a current top 30 and negotiations may have to satisfy the current club stays at 29 as required by the NRL as of 1st March ie: that club has already nominated 30 players.
2. the club we are dealing with wants a swap deal ie like for like salary wise.
3. the player is a DS player with their current club and that club is hesitant in letting them go, but the player may see us as a step forward into a top 30 contract.
4. the player may have or has suffered an injury which we need medical certs for.

Contenders:
Aaron Gray - he's currently without a contract so I doubt we would need clarity on signing him. So no
Nene McDonald - fits point 4. Too much baggage for mine.
Alex Johnson - fits points 1 and 2. Issue here is AJ wants to play fullback and we are looking at a winger.
Andre Niko - fits point 3. Tall, speedy winger who can kick goals. Can also play any position in the backline.
GGM - currently uncontracted. Speedy but too small in todays game imo

There may be others who we don't know eg: a pommie winger or even a QLD Cup player.

Anyway I know who I would persue and get clarity on..

My take on the Millward interview is that:

Isaac Luke and Joe Lovodua are well down the pecking order and unlikely to feature this season, particularly when Cam McInnes returns;

None of our wingers are considered up to first grade standard;

Mary thinks our current centres are first grade standard or he sees Williame and Lomax as the replacements for the incumbents.
