For those that want Hunt gone - be careful what you wish for. If you don't replace him - you have Sullivan and Amone in the halves - that's akin to the turnstiles at Town Hall station. If we follow precedent, we will replace him with Luke Brooks for 600K-700K - that's a nightmare scenario.
All other things being equal we need to keep Hunt. It wouldn't surprise me if the Dragons' approach to Billy Slater was at the request of Hunt. The fact Slater rejected the offer is irrelevant - at least the club is trying to keep Hunt invested.

Sorry mate Hunt can go if he wants , I for one don't have an issue , we ain't winning anything with Hunt or not , for a long time to come so I would be happy with Amone , Sullivan combo ...... That's just my opinion .......

We don't need Hunt.
Regarding those turnstiles you are referring to Ben does some good tackles but shit he misses heaps as well.
At least in attack I think with Sully and Amone we would click over points like the turnstiles at Town Hall.
Benny stifles the attack BIG TIME.

A roumour i heard today is allegedly 4 Dragon players were out on the town the night before the Titans game. Has anybody heard any truth to this.
I would not doubt it when I was at magic round last year I saw 6 players at the casino the night before the Titans game. I didn't see anyone else from any other team there, oh in case you forgot the result we lost, but people like Maximus are adamant we don't have a culture problem at our club.

I doubt Hunt will move on. The Tigers are the only option, meaning jumping from the pan into the fire.

Hasler to coach and he will pick his own coaching and fitness staff. Some lazy players will leave because Hasler is a hard taskmaster.

Hasler will assemble a good squad and it would not surprise me if Hunt stayed on and played 9.

Yes we need to keep Ben Hunt, but on the Dragons terms not Ben Hunt's !!!

So you're happy to be creating precedents where players are telling us what to do and when to do it?

The great Len Kelly and Fearless Frank once told "Puff" if you don't pick up your game and start doing what we pay you to do then there won't be a contract let alone an upgrade.

Hunt has been mollycoddled and in cotton wool his entire tenure at St GI.

It would be sad to see Hunt go but if he does because of the board sacking Hook then that is not a bad thing. Why keep a guy who will be miserable eating up a large chunk of the cap. And if he wants to leave because of a coaching change then good riddance but I don't think he will. I am pretty sure that he will come around with the new change as I feel he will benefit more than anyone in reaching his goal.

As for players out on the town before a Titans game. That does not surprise me under Hook's watch. They simply do not respect the coach and he has no control.

Being seen out does not mean "on the town".

Hunt is rising 34 so there isn't a decent club that would transition him in for a year or 2 thinking he is the missing part of the jigsaw puzzle and that he can win them a premiership.

He certainly isn't a Cooper Cronk scenario.

We already have a precedent of players not wanting to be at the club - Suli & the two new Manly signings plus I suspect there could be a few more that would prefer to be at other clubs. The fact is we cannot sign quality. So why would you want to let go of arguably your best player who is not on unreasonable coin and who can play an transitional role in the next 2-3 years into coaching a new young No7.

1. Your statement re Suli and the new recruits ex Manly is the misconstrued version of events from the mindless media. Saying that you didn't want to leave Manly is a far different scenario to saying you don't want to be here or there.
2. Our so called best player is on far too much coin for what he brings to the club including instability with his reckless statements and demands re coaches.
3. Hunt has the opportunity to start transitioning a young 7 right now and he is doing everything in his power not to do it and has relentlessly pushed the fact that he wants to remain at 7 to prolong his career. How much more did you need to see or here about Hunt to know Hunt is all about Hunt?

Lebron, Ronaldo etc its all about themselves. This is a required quality about many of the world's best sports superstars as long as they back it up with performance - which they invariably do. Many here are infatuated that Hunt is on around 900K. Compare will DCE - same sort of players and same sort of ages yet DCE is on 200K more or even possibly more again.
If we had a track record of recruiting class players - sure bye bye Hunt but we don't. We are under resourced.
It worries me that we are just on another 3 year change of coach cycle. We have to fix the root of the Dragons problem. Being run by two factions and needing 100% agreement on key recruitment plus not having access to deep pocketed contacts is the problem. We are the South of mid 1970's to late 2000's. They were run by a rigid under resourced board until Russell arrived and bought his business acumen to their joint.
We can't wait till 2047 for our Red&White knight to arrive.

Not thats stats tell you everything but
Hunt approx 340 games including reps, 1 Field Goal
DCE approx 340 games including reps, 27 Field Goals
Countless times DCE has won Manly games via game management and hitting the field goal under pressure to win..
Says it all really. I would rather DCE than Hunt any old day. DCE as also won a comp and had Manly in the finals series more years than not.
