Shiit, I rly liked Herring, I think hes a Burton in the making, maybe a ctr though with a big boot.. but really happy to go with the club on this one, there had to be a reason the club hadn't locked Herring up 6mths ago at the latest. All Hail King Togia... mind you.. halves depth is reallllllyyyyyyy thin now!

Big mistake on our part not to even offer Zach a train and trial.

Hopefully the decision not to sign him was because we have a much better junior in the ranks
Another massive mistake.
After releasing Bud,one would have expected we had this guy left to develop.
Good organiser with a great boot.
Very sad where this club is heading with such poor decision making.
Good luck to Zach and Bud.
There is no chance of improvement avoiding 17th will be a successful season.

Just Saw on NRL.com that Zach Herring has joined the Knights and is part of their development list for 2024

Mindboggling decision to let him go, he killed it in the reserves this year, a real talent.
21 games, 9 tries, 12 try assists, 10 line brk assists, that's in a fairly ordinary team. Equally adept in the 6 or 7 jersey and was developing a nice kicking game.
fkn what next !

Young players playing against young players always look great until they come up against the big boys. How many have we seen in the past. Relax I’m happy to let flanno do his thing in choosing who to keep and which to let go. After all he’s the coach

Yeh gotta say Herring never blew my mind. Capable at game management, kicking, tackling. There are a pair of kids, a year or so younger that impress me far more in Nick Quinn (half) and Lychan King-Togia (5/8). So if we dont nail Dearden we have a couple of goodn's waiting in the wings.

Yes he is the coach and in the end he will have to live or die by his decisions.
How bad will it look if these players kick on in their new clubs and we are struggling?
We had these guys and we let them go.
If we struggle next year then in my mind there are NO EXCUSES like, "we didn't have the cattle" or "we couldn't sign anyone decent cause no one was left"
That will be all Bullshit.
We have chosen a direction and ONLY results will determine how correct that direction was and if heads should roll.

Keep in mind there will be plenty of players at KOE Cup level and lower grades who have been cut by their respective clubs, amongst them some halves who will be shopping themselves to different clubs, including the Dragons.
Could be an opportunity to pick up a few players on trail and train contracts who are looking for a new opportunity.

That’s right you live and die by the sword when you’re the coach
In hindsight I’d love to have Rhuben, Addin, Reece, back but that’s footy
Every team loses juniors some for the good and some for the bad
I’m sure we’ve pinched a few

If he is a sentimental man, perhaps the fact he started his career here wearing the RedV.
He's actually not one of ours originally (we were his 3rd junior club), I actually have a vague memory that we got him after another club let him go for an incident.. so at the time I couldnt be too critical when the same thing happened here.. what comes around goes around so to speak.. but I would certainly love him home, whatever the reason =)

Agreed...

I'm done with getting bricked up over these young juniors coming through. From what I saw of the Feagai's in SG Ball I thought they were going to be superstars, that's how deluded I was. It turns out that both of them can't bust eggs.

And besides that, I don't have the faith that the club will keep hold of the right ones in the end anyway. I'll be keeping a lid on any excitement until these "future stars" get to 1st grade.

None of them will get me again...

Dont fear Dave, Flanno did this at the sharks, and its possibly what we need, We will never know the exact plan between, Flanno, Timmins, Riddell and Millard, I'm leaving Harran out of it, but he is putting the cleaners right throughout the club across all grades. I think the lower grades next year will be more accountable and have a definite change of attitude not to mention improving their skill sets.

Agree on the clean out from top to bottom.

As a football club, it's been a slow burn to failure. We came second last this year.

I remember when we had at least one grade in the running for the big day. It's not going to change overnight however, Flanno is doing an outstanding job for the time he's been here.

We have been calling out for change for so long. It's here now and I hope that the standards are set for onfield success and progression for the players.
