The answer came earlier this year when one of the rich old coots innocently told the media he was offering pub shares to a player.. legit thinking it was all above board and he was helping his favourite club.. Gould cracked the shits and tried to blame the journalist.. that was a smalll peak into what matter of ridiculous deals NRL clubs cook up to finance players outside of their legit contract (or TPA), essentially "life after football" perks.

Undecided if it's this post, or Randoms 'xmas stocking promise' that's my favourite post of the week.

No breaking story re AFB from New Corp that I saw.
Story still has legs Baggy with plenty of agitating behind the scenes
Once back from Bali things likely to ramp up
Good mates with some Coaches n Players at the Dragons , in particular , BMM...Wouldn't consider moving him on while AFB still on radar .

Gee all of this just pisses me off no end. How in hell do they get away with it? Are the big guys in the NRL/ARL all in it as well? There should be a microscopic audit done to all clubs of their salary Craps and TPA's (Tampering with Payments Agent's).

Do these clubs feel proud that they have won a premiership by cheating? Do they whisper to one another in the club and say "isn't it great that we did some shonky salary cap and TPA deals to win this premiership - be careful though, mums the word teeter, teeter"? Eff off you scum bags and cheats! Win it fair and square!!

My Sunday arvo rant.

Might be unpopular but I'd be happy to send de Belin that way for AFB. Whether the warriors would want that is doubtful though. For mine Bird is a lock and shouldn't be moved around the team, whilst they're clearly training Toby Couchman to be a middle. Toby could play the de Belin role in terms of his reliability in defence, interchanging with Bird who offers a point of difference in the middle. De Belin is getting on, drives away sponsors and is probably just symbolic of a dark period for the Dragons.

Yes I think they would like JDB. They were trying to sign him during his court case.

Given that we were previously trying to offload BMM.. I would assume this AFB thing has come about unexpectedly... I've mentioned a few times that BMM is fine to stay for me, big body off the bench that actually makes post contact metres and 2nd rower cover in an emergency.. if the couchman(s) actually come on faster than expected that might change, but certainly no drama in 2024.

Hate that we have potentially 2 signings but both subject to player swaps probably given we are forced to try pull ppl out of contracts to fill our cap.

In racing parlances they are chalk n cheese
Bird is a week to week proposition ie injury prone
Hasnt produced consistent performances for ages although now has his old trainer to try and get him to produce his best
De Belin , while older missed 2 years and still has plenty to offer esp in defence..
Thought along with Lawrie , were our best last season

I agree re BMM. I’m fine with him coming off the bench in the prop rotation for 15 mins a half. Tuck the ball under his arm, run hard and stay in the middle. Gets a little lazy on the edge but in the middle he’s fine for 2 rotations
