They did loose Mitchell.
Yep and kept Manu and Tedesco. Roosters did not fight to keep him and it was a good decision.
Look how it has worked out for Souths.
Lot of stuff gone down in many forms without winning anything except big contracts and a property / business portfolio. Great player but the drama series has a few episodes left in it

What’s everyone’s thoughts on JdB for 2025 ?

Turns 33yrs old in March

I wonder how an extension will be positioned or is a serious clean out we are looking for come 2025 ?

You could only guess he might be offered $500k pa max in 2025 at our club or another?

And more likely $400k pa in 2025 at 34yrs of age?
Yeh keep him a bit longer for experience and he is a leader in defence. Do more help than harm in our pack for another year or 2.

My preference is to keep him. He still has 2 more years in him easily and is a very good forward.

Does anyone know which Dragon starting forward is ranked 207th in the NRL for post contact metres?

Moses Suli is ranked 22nd in the comp and is our no1 player in this stat.

Fun trivia........... which team has 3 players (not one of them a forward) in the top20 of the post contact metres stat? Plus their ex centre come elite lock is in the top30 !

serious field position impact !

He is still out best forward. Our defence is always better when he plays. His body is still good as he didn't burn it out by having those forced stand downs. One of the few NRL players that can cut a man down on his own. Doesn't need 3 in the tackle. Jturbo is the other. Only negative is the bunker don't like him and watch him like a hawk. There was a clear mandate to ping him for anything last season. The Manly game at WIN is a prime example. The Manly winger (toupolata??) Had about 3 rolls of strapping on his leg which meant he took an injury into the game. We had commenced our chase down and looked like we were going to run manly down (DCE's 300th game). Dan Russell scores a fair try and Casey Badger denies the try from the bunker. Not long after, JDB tackles Toupolata?? and he doesn't get up for a while as his leg clagged it. Casey Badger stops the game for an eternity and then sends JDB to the sinbin. End of the rundown and we lose. I was very close to the action and started a verbal with the manly winger about how he taken the injury into the game. He just smirked.
JDB seems to be the only player in the NRL that doesn't know what a hip drop tackle is.

if u listen to james graham talk about the game and post contact metres its actually a very poor over rated stat. Post contact metres often slow down other areas of the game such quick play the balls and getting the team moving forward in the whole set.

I am not qualified enough to understand the ins and outs of this but james graham in his podcast gives a good perspective on it.

Surprised to see Zac in the top 50 so good on him. Hopefully see it jump up again.

JDB I'm not surprised, his role isn't really that

If you're bumping off tackles it's a good thing. More players have to make tackles. Then if you get an offload, even better.

BMM at 158 is a worry. A 118kg 2nd rower running out wide against smaller men ? Surely we can get his kpi's up to a respectable level. Speaks volumes for our plodding movement upfield - slow play the balls, poor service from dh, getting dominated by even the most pedestrian opposition packs and worst our one out runs making it so easy to stop us in our tracks. C'mon Flanno fix that sht up.

wow we no Bud mentioned by Benji?

Marshall also said he won’t be afraid to give a youngster the first crack at replacing Luke Brooks in the halves.

“Lachie Galvin is in the mix to play in the halves. He could be one of the guys who start the season. He has to earn it. One thing I do know about rugby league players is if you are good enough, you are old enough.

Big Lance this might validate your comment?

I wonder though if you have 3 players in the top20 of post contact metres like Penrith that this web of impact shows a different story to say one player being dominant like Suli for the Dragons?

Imagine if we had 3 in the top20 !!!

.........................

found this in a rabbit hole on the web:

"We're accustomed to hearing about a player's post-contact metres which indicate their ability to win the tackle and keep moving forward. Logically it's a pretty good indicator of performance in the tackle. Looking at the correlation between average post-contact metres per run and margin of victory we get a rather weak correlation (0.19). If we switch that to average PRE-contact metres, or the metres gained before the defence contacts the ball runner, we get a stronger correlation (0.43). Not bad. If we dig a little deeper and look at the difference between the two teams in average pre-contact metres per run we get a stronger correlation again (0.68).

Pre-Contact Metres

Does that table look a little familiar to you? Seven of the top eight on the NRL ladder are in the top eight of this table. Gold Coast and North Queensland are way off the pace - as you'd expect.

Like most statistical categories in rugby league, there's more to the story than a single magic number. For a team to have good line speed it needs to have good control of the ruck (play the ball speed), has to have the energy to make the extra effort to move up quickly (field position, ball control, possession etc) and numerous other factors.

Next time someone has a chat to you about play the ball speeds and post-contact metres, show your football IQ and tell them that they're soooooo 2018. All the cool kids are talking about PRE-contact metres now."

In Sundays paper Benji talked up the positive impact Bud and the 2 brothers have had. Also talked up Galvin and Seizer. Said trial form will decide who plays.
