Not earth shattering news IMO but not such a bad move. add a player late (especially a second rower) at an inflated price. .? Hmm

is talented and experienced and if Flanno gets the best version of Luc should add to our lack lustre and predictable attack) I hope when negotiations are taking place they realise the cowboys need to offload Luc more than we need his services ..to add to our roster at this late hour is not bad. Sorry for grammar my iPad is really slow

Guess that means Luki and Finifuiki are staying put…
Leilua is the fish john west rejects..
I agree whilst he is Ok in attack he is lazy in defence and can be a mistake magnet.
Cowboys are offloading a current overpaid 2nd rower when they have some guns who we should be targeting.
I said this on here months ago he would be surplus as they have too many good backrowers they want to keep at maybe the right money.
He has had a few misdemeanours in a short time up there one major, and one minor 2 weeks ago
They want to get rid of him and we help them out..maybe.

I thought a big phat prop was our #1 priority, but possibly they just arent on the market like Gus is finding. Hooker was my next request..

but anyway.. we have nearly as many young props as we do 2nd rowers.. but they are all just kids still.. its why the slightly older crew, guys like Fifita, Tui, MMolo and Couchmans.. I think the success of our season may hinge on them.. if 1 or 2 have break out years it really changes things for us.
1 of the Couchmans is getting geared for prop but not ready

Luciano Leilua on his way back , I’m hearing 2 year deal effective immediately , I’m expecting Paul Turner or Max Feagai to be moved on immediately
Yes he would be an improvement on those 2 in your Top 30 but i used to like him as a youngster but I dont think it is a good signing or we have played into Cowboys hands
If Flanno and Young who worked with him in NYC days can change him then I stand corrected.
Defensively big concern around extra efforts defending on the edge

Although I do agree that the Cowboys are the winners in the sense they have succeeded in keeping who they wanted.. I actually dont really like the idea of signing Luki or Finefeuiaki.. any other position on the field im open too.. but I feel like we have our own 2nd rowers that are going to be hitting their straps in NSW Cup this year.. granted they are probably 2years behind.. but if we are going to pull those big name kids out of the cowboys system... its more of a 4yr deal type thing.. like 2025-2028 type contract.

This assumes we are keeping Su'a..

Maybe because he’s the first player in ages to “want” to come here.
Honestly, this factor certainly counts for something. We need to change this image of us as the untouchables and, while i'm sure he has his own personal reasons, its nice to be nominated rather than last resort. Luc would have something to offer us for sure and Flano can get him humming.

In all likelihood we keep Su'a. From all reports he wants to stay, it's about the price he wants. Club want to keep him, he wants to stay, but Su'a thinks he can get more money by letting his football do the talking. If he can perform and get an upgraded offer from us, good on him, means he's going well.

I would have preferred some of the other cow edges tbh. However, I assume cows would be contributing a bit, at least for 2025 (they cover almost a third of this year due to the delayed signing). If so, then we get a seasoned edge who I assume wants to come home. In a few years time our younger crowd has developed, and we can choose how to proceed.

look at the half full side, we now have filled a hole in the edge with a quality player. Depth in the pack is now good, though we drop off in experience quickly, and still miss a hooker and a pack leader. A lot of pressure on Liddle and players like Francis Molo to really step up.

the backs now only have 3 issues;
- no halves depth
- Bird at centre is a concern. If he can demand the spot with his performance it radically changes things
- Sloan needs to step up as fullback

that’s said, it now looks like a powerful back line. We lack some speed, but with a game plan to match we will not be fun for opposition back lines to play against.

Apparently with the sprint training the team has had this pre-season under the new trainers, they have all recorded PB times. Flanno mentioned that they will be fitter, faster etc. . From what I hear, that's the truth!

Too bad the recent recruits have not been involved in our pre-season training program, especially defensive skills, fitness, and sprint training.

Flanno has a very ambitious aim in upgrading his players to be a force to be reckoned with in 2024. Including Leilua on the edge is a welcomed move providing his defense and fitness are not the weak link in our forward pack.

I also think if Fifita steps up in our prop rotation, he may just be the prop we have been looking for.

A previous forum that morphed into this definitely existed and it was busier with more posters than what we have now.
That's not entirely correct. Long story.
If this forum had existed 2004 - 2008
Just so you know, this particular forum was established in 2003. It's forerunner started earlier. Time flies when you're having fun.
