I think horsborough will be a good buy. We have a good track record of taking Canberra players and turning them around. Weyman, Dugan , Daniel Vidot, Joel Thompson , Paul Vaughan all come to mind. He should come cheap and if he mucks up flanno will cut him.
Every time I watch Horsburgh play I see an ill-disciplined thug. Ricky Stuart was smart enough to drop him. Not convinced he's what we need.

I love how polarising our potential recruits are to fans.

Apparently Flanno is saying were only chasing 1 prop for now, I think until we can offload someone... and i 'think' Saifiti is done by all accounts.. so that might be the end of Horburgh anyway.

We did have 3 spots though, so maybe Flanno is extending someone we dont know about yet.. time will tell.. would be nice to get some clarity on Holmes & DSaifiti this week though.

You have it wrong way round but
Corey is the almost certainty as a 13
The prop is DS but not sorted yet

I said that about CT (not the thug bit) and thought he was pretty ordinary signing if not our worst off season buy
Flanno may have just unlocked something and I think Corey’s age and wraps only a year ago may be reignited by our coach
Same with DS.. least I am hoping it works that way

fascinating.. and if correct then Eisenhuth surely isnt picking up a Top30 position.. or atleast not immediately.. maybe he hangs around with a T&T to see what filters out next year.. or maybe he can do better, even the UK..

I think Eisenhuth has been super solid for us, I do want to keep him but at the same time I dont.. because it will stop us recruiting someone higher up the food chain.. we have the cash but not enough positions... and we also cant fit em all in the 17 man squad anyway.

Don’t count on the Huth
Playing for a contract
The Top 30 or 35 including development is far from done and dusted for next year
Watch with interest from about Oct 1 after we win the GF or Sept 8 whichever may come first when we exit this year

M Molo adds less value to the team imo therefore should go before Huth imo...

I'm almost certain that we had to sign him to keep Frank.. fans probably forget that Frank started the year rly well and the vultures swooped... and we had to fight off other clubs to keep him.. this was before we had secured JDB, Sua etc.. it wasnt a good time to lose one of our big name props.

But yes MMolo is pure depth, chewing up a spot but hes under contract for 1 more year (his brother for 2).. if we manage to sign a couple of bigger name props maybe we can let the Molo(s) go next year..

Off Topic - sorry I couldn't find that blasted thing on refs and the bunker thread so I've decided to put this post on this thread.

Looks like Kasey Badger has been told by the NRL that she cannot be in the bunker for any Souths Games. The article is from the DT and behind a paywall, so if someone can get it, it would be appreciated.

Also this is in the LU threads - if interested.
It happens this time every year as we enter the business end of the NRL season as clubs and coaches go looking for any little advantage they can get.

Most often it will involve them trying to put pressure on the referees.

Last week colleague Dean Bulldog Ritchie reported that Canterbury officials had been compiling a dossier on senior referee Gerard Sutton.

It was revealed that the Bulldogs had won just four from 21 games since Good Friday, 2015, and two from their past 16 matches under Sutton.

So to save all the other clubs from going to the same trouble of compiling their own dossiers, we’ve done the homework for them.

Six-again, play on.

We’ve taken the stats from the last four years, leading up to round 21 season, for all 17 clubs.

As it turns out Sutton is not necessarily Canterbury’s ‘bogey’ referee.

In fact they have never won a game under Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski, who has controlled five of their games in the last four years.

At the other end of the scale there are clubs that have unbeaten records under certain referees.

The Penrith Panthers have never lost under Chris Butler in seven games.

The Rabbitohs also have perfect records under Chris Sutton and Chris Butler.

Obviously the struggling clubs, like the Bulldogs before this year, have the worst percentages because they lose more often.

The Wests Tigers have only a 10 per cent record (one win in 10 games) under Peter Gough.

The Dragons are just 14.3 per cent under Ashley Klein (one win from seven games).

Team | Referee You Want | Referee You Don’t Want

Brisbane Broncos | Peter Gough 75% | Adam Gee 30%

Canberra Raiders | Chris Sutton 84.6% | Todd Smith 33.3%

Canterbury Bulldogs | Liam Kennedy 40% | Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski 0%

Cronulla Sharks | Chris Sutton 84.6% | Ashleigh Klein 41.2%

Dolphins | Chris Buttler 80% | Peter Gough 20%

Gold Coast Titans | Peter Gough 55.6% | Chris Buttler 18.8%

Manly Sea Eagles | Peter Gough 57.1% | Chris Sutton 20%

Melbourne Storm | Peter Gough 87.5% | Adam Gee 53.3%

Newcastle Knights | Grant Atkins 60% | Chris Sutton 28.6%

North Queensland Cowboys | Chris Buttler 80% | Chris Sutton 25%

Parramatta Eels | Peter Gough/Todd Smith 66.7% | Adam Gee 27.3%

Penrith Panthers | Chris Buttler 100% | Todd Smith 55.6%

South Sydney Rabbitohs | Chris Sutton/Chris Buttler 100% | Grant Atkins 36.8%

Sydney Roosters | Grant Atkins 70% | Gerard Sutton 36.8%

St George Illawarra Dragons | Gerard Sutton 50% | Ashley Klein 14.3%

New Zealand Warriors | Liam Kennedy 60% | Gerard Sutton 16.7%

Wests Tigers | Adam Gee 41.7% | Peter Gough 10%

At the end of the day the worst clubs have the worst percentages because they have the worst discipline.

And the best clubs have the best percentages because they have the best discipline.

It’s as simple as that.

And as for the Bulldogs, it’s not as if they need to be leaking dossiers.

Their performance against the Broncos on Saturday afternoon was magnificent.

You look back at their record from around 12 months ago.

In round 18 they were thrashed and bashed 66-0 by Newcastle.

Most thought they were facing a long, slow and painful rebuild over a number of years.

Dare I say it – a five-year-plan.

Somehow Cameron Ciraldo has fast tracked it all.

The victory over the Broncos was as impressive as any performance I’ve seen from any team this year.

DOGS OF AWE as the headline screamed on the front page of the Sunday Tele sports section.

No Stephen Crichton, no Josh Addo-Carr, no Max King and no Jaeman Salmon. No bloody worries.

This football side is headed for the top four and anything can happen from there.

And they don’t need any help from the refs.

Yeah good article but the stats don't paint an accurate picture. You've also gotta look at what the penalty count was that day. Sometimes you lose a game with a ref even with the penalty count in your favour because your team's playing like shit.

Some fans still don’t credit Liddle enough

Look at what Liddle has delivered over the past two years

In our squad, I don’t see many other NRL hookers who would have done better than Liddle has. Can’t play 80 minutes? – Bullshit! I don’t remember him flagging so much he’s “had” to be replaced and his tackle counts are phenomenal, over 80 mins.

He’s young – Cooks old and I am truthfully not keen on our bench sustaining a specialist hooker 2026. Especially if it means Liddle at 13 to accommodate Cook. (f**k!)

IMO Liddle is better than Cook 2024

I like an alternate opinion against the flow.
Challenge the noise.
I agree with this one too.

I also have faith in Flanno improving any player we sign.
Makes a refreshing change over Hook & McFlop.
So I hope we get a few for him to work on.

I think they are both good but I definitely think you are right. Liddle has been under appreciated. He's has been awesome, and has contributed much more than I expected. The defence and the attacking from dummy half, as well as many of the little things that go unseen. Cook has proven his versatility and I'll be similarly glad to have both of them in the 17.
