I don't understand this obsession with Horsborough. He isn't a very good player, and off the field arguably worse. It is well known (and he has admitted) he loves to get on the drink. If it is true no club wants him I can completely understand why. Why would you want that in your squad? Especially when Flano is looking to get rid of Rava for the same reasons. The guy is a loose cannon, and you can dress it up how you want to, but he is not changing his lifestyle by going to another club. What do people think RIcky is talking about when he said Horsborough is not meeting the standards of being a Raider?

People got sucked in to Horsborough last year because he played as a big angry red head. It's the same thing with a player like Nathan Brown, who's output is reserve grade standard, but people like that he's angry. Horsborough's performances were not that good. He got picked for origin in a dead rubber game (which Qld lost) after the fans had been calling for him to get picked all year, and Billy tumbled in. By the way, Billy's poor selections have been exposed now, and he'd gotten away with selections like this because he was facing Brad Fittler who would select even worse players.

RCG would be 100x better of a signing, especially with so many young forwards coming through. Is Horsborough the guy to show them the way? Absolutely not.

Doesnt rly matter what we think.. hes clearly one of our targets.

If we haven't landed RCG and the dogs have him.. its between Saifiti and Horse.... and its probably down to money, but, it will put more power back in the sellers hands... so im not sure how fixed Flanno is on price.

What I said too. RCG not only for his playing ability but his worth as a mentor to our crop of emerging forwards. What young kid would not want to have a former Kangaroo and one of the most passionate Dragons in JDB showing them the pathway to a long term career with the iconic RedV.

One of the reasons the Dragons were that good during that stretch was because of the training techniques that Ken Kearney brought back from England. The dragons fitness training was light years ahead of all other clubs that time.

Then add in the ball skills and onfield tactics that Harry Bath was able to help instil in the team added to that. He may have been in the veteran class by then, but his ball skills learned in England with Warrington were mostly unknown in elements in Australia.
Bath was truly pivotal to that great run.

He brought silky skills to a very tough uncompromising side and of course he was no shrinking violet as Moose Mossop once attested to.

Big Artie was also a beneficiary to this new style of fast ball playing forwards who could not only offload but step as well.

Yes and wasnt the noted fitness guru of the time Percy Cerutty used by the club to run them to exhaustion up and down the Wanda sand hills. Sure I saw a pic of our players doing just that with the old but indefatigable Cerutty well in the lead..

Yes and also didnt Percy Cerutty used to run our blokes to a standstill by running them up and down the Wanda sand hills. Sure I saw a pic of Johnny Raper and a few other players doing just that with the old but indefatigable Cerutty well in the lead..
Yes he sure did RVH. Does anyone know if those sand dunes at Wanda are still being used by anyone to increase endurance and improve fitness anymore?

We used to go on family picnics out to the Wanda sand hills and fly our kites made from brown paper, string and pieces of wood stuck together with flour and water with rags tied together for a tail.

The hills were so high that you were safe from electrocuting yourself as they towered above the power poles.

I did a drawing of a dragon on mine and my brother had the Simon Templar saint on his.

Dad made sand ski's made from wood and polished with floor wax to be slippery & fast.

Lol it was an all day trek from Peakhurst to there and back in the trusty old Austin A 30.

Those once magnificent hills are no more than a pimple on a pumpkin these days.

OT, I overheard an old bloke complaining that they had approved top dollar housing over part of the Wanda sand hills. That can’t be right, surely?

Off topic but needs to be said.
The sports community is in mourning following the tragic news that several star players from the Sydney Roosters have lost their lives in a car accident. The heartbreaking incident has left fans, teammates, and the broader rugby league family devastated. Details surrounding the tragedy are still emerging.
